Well the Indian women’s hockey team’s dream of winning the gold medal did not come true as it ended in a defeat match against Argentina. The Argentina team knocked out the Indian women’s hockey team with a 1-2 score in the semi-final at the Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday. Well the entire journey of the women’s hockey team was like a roller coaster ride where they reached the semi-finals after losing their first three matches continuously.
The team’s drag flicker Hurjit Kaur put the entire team ahead in the second minute but Argentina’s skipper Maria Noel Barrionuevo scored a brace to give the entire team an upperhand. The team energes with 2-1 winners and reached the final round. For Indian team they will be playing with Great Britain and both the teams are fighting for the bronze medal. The match is all set on Friday and India has now played its semi final after beating Australia by 1-0 while Argentina defeated Germany by 3-0 for the semifinal spot. Gurjit Kaur got the winning goal from the Indian side and also they saved as many as 8 penalty corners to register their win against the three time Olympic champions.
Well talking about the match Gurjit Kaur was successful in giving the entire team a lead early in the match by converting a penalty corner whereas Argentina hit back in the second quarter as Noel Barrionuevo, the captain scored the equaliser. Again the Argentine skipper scored in the third quarter which left the Indian team way behind them and the Indian team fought hard in the final 15 minutes too to fight their opponent. however Argentina’s experience and skills covered the entire match and they were successfully able to win over the Indian team.
Well the Indian women’s hockey team also had a chance to create a new history by entering into the final round of the Olympics but their dream did not come true and it was denied by the mighty Argentinians. The Indian team goes down by 1-2 score and now they will be able to fight for the bronze medal which will be again a very tough match against Great Britains for sure. For the next match they will be fighting against the Netherlands in the gold medal match.
While India will be up against Great Britain for the bronze medal clash. Indian team’s match against Great Britain’s for the bronze medal is set on August 6 and fans are looking forward to the performance on the big day. Well, the match is going to be too tough to predict as Great Britain was the 2016 Olympic champions tour and their experience is pretty good. Well, many of the eager fans are waiting for the match and many are also hoping that the Indian team will return back to their home with a medal in hand.
