Love Island: America was acquired by NBC after three seasons on CBS. Moving to Peacock, the network’s streaming site, will give the Islanders more leeway to properly reflect the sassy (and rather sexual) spirit of the original dating show.
In a February news release, Jenny Groom, executive vice president of unscripted entertainment content, said, “Love Island is a hugely addictive dating format that is suited for a streaming service like Peacock where we can push boundaries and bring fans steamy and dramatic twists.”
“We’re happy to be able to bring an all-new version of the series to Peacock this summer after the U.K. format garnered fans around the world.”
The show’s fourth and fifth seasons have been greenlit, with Peacock promising “hotter than ever” episodes and couples.
During season 3, which aired in the summer of 2021, Love Island USA touched on the naughtier content by uploading raunchy footage on Paramount+ that didn’t make the cut for CBS.
In June 2021, prior of the season launch, longtime anchor Arielle Vandenberg told Us Weekly exclusively, “For Paramount+, you’re going to receive some extra steam.”
“Anything we couldn’t show on the broadcast will be seen on Paramount+.” There are also a lot of fun, new, and fascinating things to look at on there.”
Only time will tell whether the new location for the reality series — and its unedited content — will result in long-term relationships. However, the principle hasn’t changed. Viewers will be able to watch a group of singles as they search for love while living in a villa starting next month.
They’ll form alliances and participate in hot contests week after week, all in the name of love and money – a $100,000 reward is on the line.
While the audience will choose the winning pair, the final two Islanders will have to decide whether to split the prize money, end their relationship, or try to retain the reward for themselves.
