FIR filed against Ponniyin Selvan’s Director Mani Ratnam! Know the reason here

For the past few months director, Mani Ratnam and his team have been continuously working and are busy shooting for the new upcoming film “Ponniyin Selvan”. Well, as the updates of the new film have been spreading a lot, and till now you may be aware that the story is actually based upon a war story or we can say a historic era. So of course this movie may need a lot of horses while shooting, for all the war scenes. As a result, horses were also involved in this shooting. Well, unfortunately, an incident happened while shooting, and an FIR was filed against the director! 

So while shooting the scenes in Hyderabad which included the horses, one horse was accidentally involved in a head-on collision and died. As this news went viral on the internet very soon, People For Ethical Treatment Of Animals, also famously known as PETA, filed a complaint against the director, and later an FIR was also made by the Abdullapurmet Police. According to the sources of the Indian Express, Veerabhadraiah detective sub-inspector of abdullapurmet police station got a complaint regarding the death of the horse and he said that “We have registered a case against the horse owner and the production company Madras talkies and started and mitigation full socks the house owner says that his horse died of colleague case of abdominal pain that is the cause of death in the majority of horses. However, we are investigating the cause of death”.  

This FIR was filed against the production house of the director Mani Ratnam that is the Madras Talkies. This FIR was registered under section 11 of the PCA act 1960, and also section 429 of the Indian penal code 1860.

While talking about this incident, in a statement, People For Ethical Treatment Of Animals, that is, PETA’s Indian chief advocacy officer Khushboo Gupta said, “in the age of computer-generated imaginary (CGI), production companies have no excuse for forcing exhausted horses to play at war until one of them drops dead.”  well for your information the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals famously known by the name PETA is actually an American animal rights organization which is known worldwide. They are the largest animal rights organization and have more than 6.5 million members and supporters. 

According to some reports, it is also known that the owner of the horse allowed the makers of the film Ponniyin Selvan to use the horses even though the horse was being tired and dehydrated. So following the FIR, the district collector of Hyderabad and the Telangana State Animal Welfare Board was called by The Animal Welfare Board Of India to conduct an inquiry on the horse’s death. 

About the film Ponniyin Selvan:

It is said that it was Director Mani Ratnam’s dream to make a film based on the Tamil literary novel Ponniyin Selvan. Later, Mani Ratnam managed to bring the lyca productions on board and assembled a perfect cast for the shoot after multiple failed attempts. This upcoming Indian Tamil language historical action and drama film which is directed and produced by Mani Ratnam will be now expected to release in 2022. 

The film Ponniyin Selvan’s ongoing schedule is progressing at an energetic pace, and the shooting is going on in Madhya Pradesh. This film involves a lot of well-known actors like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Trisha Jayam Ravi, Karthi, and Prakash Raj who are also a part of the current schedule. Composer AR Rahman, Editor Sreekar Prasad, and Cinematographer Ravi Varma are part of the technical crew of the film.
