Succession is one of the rare TV programs that unite people from all over the world.
The hit HBO drama, which could also be classified as a satirical black comedy, is about billionaire Roy and his dysfunctional offspring. They spend their days stabbing one other to take over as the new CEO of their family’s international media conglomerate. The third season went into “full beast mode,” with televised coverage of son Kendall’s bid to unseat his father.
Sadly, Kendall’s demise was also broadcast on television.
By the time the season three finale debuted in December 2021, the writers had unraveled entirely the plot with a spectacular ending that left viewers begging for explanations. Sadly, we must wait and be patient. Here’s everything we know about it
Succession season 4 Release date
Thankfully, Succession has at least confirmed its fourth season, which was announced only days before the premiere of season three.
Unfortunately, no official release date has been established as of September 2022. But production got rolling in June.
Seasons one and two of the show debuted on HBO in 2018 and 2019, respectively. However, season three’s premiere was postponed due to the epidemic. It consequently debuted in October 2021.
It is uncertain whether they will maintain their later time slot or switch to their earlier period during the summer schedule.
The cast of Succession season 4
Given that the family is now at war, it is very likely that all the key figures will return.
The big guy himself (Brian Cox), his old business partners Gerri (J Smith Cameron), Frank (Matthew Macfadyen), and cousin Greg (Nicholas Braun), as well as buddies Tom Wambgans (Matthew Macfadyen) (Peter Friedman), and Karl, at this point, seem to make up Team Logan (David Rasche). His ex-wife Caroline (Harriet Walter), who sold off her children in the season three finale, is another unexpected addition. The new team, which comprises Roman, Shiv (Jeremy Strong), and Kendall, is the following (Kieran Culkin).
Other members:
The decision of the oldest son, Connor (Alan Ruck), is still in the air, but at least he will be accompanied by Willa (Justine Lupe), his new fiancée.
Also confirmed is Alexander Skarsgrd’s portrayal of Lukas Mattson, which makes sense given the complete chaos he has caused the family.
Other familiar faces include Stewy Hosseini from season one, a recurring character played by Arian Moayed; Jess Jordan, Kendall Roy’s assistant; Naomi Pierce, Kendall’s media heiress love interest; Justin Kirk, who played the controversial Congressman Jeryd Mencken in season three; and Stephen Root, who played Ron Petkus.
Additionally announced is Dagmara Domiczyk’s return to the Waystar Royco PR team as Karolina Novotney.
The plot of Succession season 4
The official fourth season summary was released to the public in June. It said: “The ten episodes of season four move the sale of media juggernaut Waystar Royco to tech genius Lukas Matsson forward. The Roys envisage their lives after the sale is done and are filled with existential dread at the thought of such a seismic transaction, which causes family conflict. The family anticipates a period when their influence in politics and society will be significantly reduced, which leads to a power struggle.
Even with this brief explanation, it should be clear that Succession season four can only mean one thing: all-out conflict inside the family and business unit.
Having sold out his family and agreed to a buyout of Waystar Royco, Logan will no longer have a significant part of what keeps him going. What will he do in its place, then? His super-shrewd decision to sell Waystar to Matsson might not have been as successful as he had anticipated.
Other details:
What will happen to Shiv, Roman, and Kendall now that they have no one else to rely on but one another to get them through this challenging time in their lives?
Their most important other has let down all the major players. Her battered husband Tom has finally gotten even with Shiv and abandoned her in the ocean, though he is unaware she is dead. We’re relatively confident she won’t accept
Nevertheless, in retaliation, she might play the long game. For Roman, Gerri, the lone person he seems to have confided, has abandoned him for her reasons. Then there is Kendall, whose mental stability clings to him by the thinnest of threads.
The siblings must devise their next power play before it’s too late in season four. It will be messy in either case.
On the plus side, there will be one cause for celebration (if you choose to see it that way) since it appears Connor will wed Willa Ferreyra, his reluctant partner. Good luck with that one.
