Violent Night sets itself to be released on 2nd december.

A brand-new action-comedy Christmas film Violent night is presently under production. This Christmas season, the Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola’s film Violent Night is scheduled to be released in theatres.

The production of the Violent night will be handled by 87North Productions, which also produced the thriller Nobody starring Bob Odenkirk and will release it through Universal Pictures. In his home Norway, director Wirkola is most known for fusing action, humor, and horror. His movies include the Kill Bill spoof Kill Buljo and the Dead Snow trilogy, in which students battle reanimated Nazi zombies from World War II. Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, Wirkola’s debut English-language film, is his most well-known work. Now it appears that he is applying his distinctively harsh approach to another enduring genre, the holiday movie.

Violent Night

Violent Night: Plot

The plot, which already resembles a little darker Home Alone, is said to revolve around a bunch of mercenaries who steal into the home of a Succession-like family on Christmas Eve and take them hostage. The mercenaries are unaware that Santa Claus in Violent night himself is present and prepared to intervene and disprove the saintliness of this St. Nick.

At CinemaCon in April 2022, further material was unveiled. Harbour referred to his character as violent Santa in Violent night, adding that due to the absurdity of the plot, he must use f-words. A little girl in the house calls Santa for assistance when the mercenaries break in, and he responds by saying that an enigmatic Santa Claus is on the way.

The video Violent night shows Kris Kringle embracing an outrageously aggressive and gory persona as his elf helpers use martial arts. He stabs one of the robbers in the eyes with an electric Christmas star and beats another to death with a sock packed with billiard balls. Santa ends his gruesome rampage with the humorous catchphrase “I’m merry.”

Fans of movies where Jim Hopper plays Santa Claus in a John Wick meets Die Hard meets Succession kind of way should keep this one in mind. There will probably be more story details released in the upcoming weeks and months. But honestly, what could be more ridiculous than this idea? It’s a “coal-dark Christmas thriller that advises betting on red at all times.”

Violent Night: Cast

As was previously announced, David Harbour will play the ruthless in Violent night, vengeful St. Nick. Although the idea of a gritty Santa Claus is not wholly novel, it has never been executed to this degree.

Ben, the mercenaries’ leader and the main object of Santa’s fury, is portrayed in the film Encanto by John Leguizamo. The matriarch of the family, Anne, is played by Beverly D’Angelo of the National Lampoon’s Vacation series. She manages the family business with an iron hand and makes her kids compete for her attention. Skyler, played by English actor Alex Hassell, visits for the holidays with his estranged wife, who Alexis Louder of The Tomorrow War portrays. Despite their disagreements, the couple celebrates the holidays with their loved ones for the sake of their kid in Violent night.

Andre Eriksen of Norsemen, Edi Patterson of Knives Out in Violent night and The Righteous Gemstones, and Cam Gigandet of Without Remorse will all play additional parts. We don’t know how their personalities could contribute to the storyline or whether they’ll suffer a terrible flogging from Santa in Violent night. As the release date of Violent night draws closer, further casting announcements should be anticipated.

Violent Night

The movie Violent night Bad Santa, starring Billy Bob Thornton, from 2003, which had a comparable less-than-family-friendly approach to Kris Kringle, is one of the closest analogies we can make to Violent Night. That, however, only included Thornton in the role of a mall Santa, not the genuine one. We haven’t witnessed the genuine Santa Claus in Violent night take really harsh retaliation on film. The brutality in Violent night is still shocking even if you make the case that Santa isn’t the antagonist since he’s getting vengeance on the intruders who broke in.
