Know about the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and United States Vice President Kamala Harris!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a three-day visit to the United States and he met US Vice President Kamala Harris, Australian and Japanese counterparts — Scott Morrison and Yoshihide Suga on Thursday. 

PM Modi met Kamala Harris on Thursday at the White House!

As per PM Modi’s tweet, be stated “Glad to have met @VP@KamalaHarris. Her feat has inspired the entire world. We talked about multiple subjects that will further cement the India-USA friendship, which is based on shared values and cultural linkages.”

They both spoke about the areas of future collaboration, including space cooperation, Information Technology, especially emerging and critical technologies, and cooperation in the healthcare sector. Both the political leaders acknowledged the vibrant people-to-people linkages as the bedrock of the mutually beneficial education linkages. They also spoke about the flow of knowledge, innovation, and talent that keeps happening between both of their respective countries.

Kamala Harris was seen stating India as a “very important partner” to the US. She also welcomed New Delhi’s announcement stating the resumption of vaccine export.

Harris also brought up the climate crisis, and she told Modi that the US working together with India can have not only a profound impact on people of nations but around the globe.

PM Modi met Japanese counterpart Yoshihide Sugar.

They both were seen speaking about a range of issues including Indo-Pacific, regional developments, supply chain resilience, trade, digital economy, and P2P ties.

The two leaders spoke about the increasing importance of digital technologies and how they led to progress in the India-Japan Digital Partnership. They also stated climate change issues and green energy transition, and the potential for Japanese collaboration with India’s National Hydrogen Energy Mission.

The two prime ministers acknowledged their commitment to advance efforts to facilitate the smooth and timely implementation of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project.

Both the leaders discussed a wide range of subjects for deepening economic and people-to-people linkages between both the countries.

The Prime Ministers underlined the need for the international community to address the issue of Climate Change. Prime Minister Modi also brought up the need for a broader dialogue on environmental protection. 

US president Joe Biden invites PM Modi and thus he embarked on a high-level US visit on Wednesday and the president is likely to host PM Modi at the White House on September 25. The meeting in the Oval Office would be followed by the first-ever in-person Quad summit.

The Prime Minister will next be leaving for New York and as per the reports, he is the first speaker scheduled to address the UN General Assembly which will be conducted on September 25.
