Lata Mangeshkar is one of the most versatile singers in the Bollywood industry and she hasn’t created history with her amazing songs which to date resides in many of her fans ‘ hearts. Today the well-known singer is turning 92 years old and she has got wishes from many famous personalities and celebrities in India.
As per the reports Lata Mangeshkar is going to celebrate her 92nd birthday with her close family members in a very private family dinner. The dinner is planned for Tuesday on the occasion of her 92nd birthday. A day before her birthday returns on Monday Lata Mangeshkar told TOI, “It’s God’s grace and my parents’ blessings that I have turned 92. I pray the Almighty blesses our country as well during these horrific Covid19 times.”
Many famous singers and politicians have wished the singer today and she will be having her birthday celebration at a low key affair. Lata Mangeshkar is not only one of the most cherished singers but also is the 2002 recipient of the prestigious Bharat Ratna. It is the country’s highest civilian honor. She said, “The Covid19 restrictions are being observed strictly by my family. Only close relatives will attend the dinner.”
The melody queen was seen speaking about her long and fruitful association with Mumbai, and she stated, “I remember my frequent trips to Malad to record a Bombay Talkies number or at the Filmistan studio which was located in Goregaon. The train journey was pleasant as there were few passengers around. Suburbs looked green and the morning breeze was fresh.”
One of her evergreen and famous melodies named ‘Aayegaa Aanewala,’ from ‘Mahal’, a 1948 Bombay Talkies production, catapulted Lata Mangeshkar to getting a huge fan following when she was just 19 years old. Soon, her songs from Barsat, Badi Behen, Andaz, Anarkali, and Albela made the talented vocalist’s formidable reputation as a playback singer in the industry.
Mangeshkar always kept her birthday parties “strictly private”. She, even during her heydays liked to spend her birthdays with her family. “Actually, I am not a party animal. There would be no recording for me on my birthday. I would spend quality time with Maiee (mother) and my siblings. Maiee would cook a delicious lunch and we would all spend the entire afternoon eating, chatting, and laughing,” added Lata Mangeshkar.
Rachana Shah a noted writer and her niece said, “We all will assemble at Prabhu Kunj (Mangeshkar’s iconic Peddar Road residence) in the evening and listen to stories of the golden era of Hindi cinema from Didimavshi. And in return tell her many jokes which will make her happy.”
Pm Narendra Modi wished her on her birthday and called Lata’s blessings a great source of strength for him. Other celebrities like Juhi Chawla and Shaan wished the legendary singer too!
