In Association with FDCI, Lakme Fashion Week surely saw Ravi Kumar Dahiya, the Olympic Silver medallist as a showstopper for talented and known fashion designer Mohammed Mazhar. Ravi stunned the glamour world and fashion fraternity by dressing in an Indo-Boho rustic styled outfit, with his stylish and graceful appearance in the digital showcase of the show.
Ravi Dahiya is surely a wrestling icon for the youth and now, this debut of him on the ramp is also another way to inspire youngsters out there to work hard and gain more success in more than just one field. His great athletic physique along with his attractive personality makes him a perfect fit as a showstopper in Lakme Fashion Week, as he slayed Mazhar’s show with his special presence. Well, he definitely seemed as much at ease on the ramp as he is in the wrestling ring.
Ravi Dahiya donned a monochrome ensemble which was from the designer Mazhar’s ‘Meri Pyaari Khaat’, an Autumn Winter 2021-22 collection, and this great rustic collection is a tribute to cot weavers. Lakme Fashion Week took their Instagram account and wrote, “Echoing a dash of drama on a monochromatic canvas, @mohammed.mazhar.official collection at FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week is an untold story of cot weavers. With this, he dives deep into his childhood memories and weaves a clothing line encompassing boxy and flowy silhouettes made with fabrics using the cot weaving technique & hand embroideries.”
On the second day of Lakme Fashion Week, Olympic silver medallist Ravi Kumar Dahiya made his runway debut. The 23-year-old freestyle wrestler definitely turned into an amazing showstopper for fashion designer Mohammed Mazhar.
On the ramp, Ravi Dahiya teamed a patchwork kurta and pajama along with a nice touch of a blazer. The overall look was also accessorized greatly with a metallic ring necklace, some bracelets on both hands, and with some amazing rings. The look was rounded off with a pair of juttis, embellished perfectly.
After the fashion show, Ravi Dahiya said that he felt it was fun to walk on the ramp wearing these amazing designer clothes. He even compared the fun on the ramp to wrestling. He praised the designer Mohammad Mazhar stating that Mazhar is a brilliant designer. As per the reports of news 18, the wrestling champion and Olympic medallist said in a statement, “I am very happy to be a part of FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week. Dressing up in designer outfits and walking the ramp was as exciting as wrestling. Mohammed Mazhar is a talented designer who took inspiration from ‘khaat’ (cot) to create an amazing outfit for me to look great.”
Mohammed Mazhar is indeed a great fashion designer as his designs have always been inspired by the marginal communities of India. Mazhar indeed believes that these marginal communities always contribute to the fashion industry in some way or the other. On having Ravi Dahiya as his showstopper, Mazhar said, “Ravi is a picture-perfect match for my collection. More than a showstopper, I share similarities with Ravi as we both belong to small towns and have carved a niche at the international level.”
Surely, Ravi Dahiya made a great debut in his ramp walk and he definitely showed everyone that he is not only good in wrestling but also in many other fields such as this one. Ravi Dahiya has already won many hearts by winning a silver medal in the recent Olympics, and with this debut, he has once again shown his style and personality and has once again won many hearts.
