Stock Market Highlights: Sensex, Nifty Crack As Selling Pressure

On Friday, Indian stocks fell sharply as selling pressure spread across all sectors

the banking, automotive, information technology, and consumer packaged goods industries taking the biggest hits. 

The S&P BSE Sensex, which tracks 30 large-cap stocks, lost 461.96 points, or 0.75 percent

while the broader NSE Nifty50, which tracks 50 small-cap stocks, lost 145.00 points, or 0.79 percent, to end the day at 18,269.

45 of the Nifty50's 50 constituents were down today. Tata Motors, Hindustan Unilever, Nestle India, HDFC Bank, and UPL were the top gainers

while Mahindra & Mahindra, Adani Ports, BPCL, Asian Paints, and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories were the top losers.

The final tally for all 15 of the Nifty's industry indices was negative.
