Just imagine that you are sleeping safe and soundly on your comfy bed and suddenly you hear a noise, waking up to which you find a huge rock that is a meteor beside you. What will be your reaction to it? Sounds strange right? Well, a similar incident occurred in Canada where a woman was woken up by a meteorite that reportedly crashed through her roof and landed on her bed, well, next to her and a few inches away. The pictures of the crushed roof and the meteorite on her bed are getting viral on the internet.
Ruth Hamilton shared in an interview with CBC News how she suddenly woke up to a huge bang noise and then spotted the big rock on the pillow lying next to her. She’s lucky enough as the rock was just a few inches away from her. In the interview, she said, “The next thing was just a huge explosion and debris all over my face.” Further, she said, “I jumped out of bed and turned on the lights. I didn’t know what else to do, so I called 911.”
Then she shared, “The operator was asking me all kinds of questions and at that point, I rolled back one of the two pillows I’d been sleeping on and in between them there was the meteorite.”
According to the report of the CBC news website, the rock was basically a charcoal grey colored rock and it also reportedly had a size which can be compared to melon and it is informed that it was falling from the space which crashed into truth hamilton’s roof and then landed on her bed just a few inches away from her.
Further, she informed the news website, “I was shaking like a leaf.” She told the news website, “You’re sound asleep, safe, you think, in your bed, and you can get taken out by a meteorite, apparently.”
The meteorite crashed through the roof and landed next but she was indeed lucky enough that the noise woke her up and she jumped out of her bed. It was indeed a good decision to call 911 at that time. And earlier some people also reported that they have seen a fiery meteor streaking across the sky. Talking about the sudden movement she made which saved her life, she said, “Never take life for granted, if I would not have woken up and jumped thinking of a burglar, I would be dead.” She further said,“I will keep this ‘star’, my grandchildren think it’s quite exciting.”
At first, Hamilton was not aware that the rock, fallen in her house was a meteorite. She came to know about this when the rock was investigated by the experts of The University of Western Ontario as they confirmed that the rock had indeed fallen from space, according to the news report.
Peter Brown, a professor at the University, informed the news website that, “It’s certainly a meteorite. Everything about the story was consistent with a meteorite fall and the fact that this bright fireball had occurred basically right at the same time made it a pretty overwhelming case.”
It is now reported that Hamilton will now send the rock to Peter Brown and his team, who hope to identify the type of meteorite.
Finding a rock just beside you while you are sleeping soundly is quite a shocking thing for sure. Well, this case is indeed strange and it is also miraculous as the woman luckily got saved from this meteorite, as it was just a few inches away.
