Earthquake Of Magnitude 6.1 Strikes Off New Zealand Coast
On Wednesday, an earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale rocked New Zealand.
The EMSC places the epicentre of the quake at 78 kilometres northwest of Lower Hutt, close to Wellington.
Government seismic monitor Geonet reported that the tremors were felt at a depth of 48 kilometres (30 miles).
Paraparaumu was located fifty kilometres from the epicentre of the quake
Nearly 10 days have passed since a 7.8-magnitude earthquake shook Syria and Turkey before a similar quake hit New Zealand.
To date, the number of confirmed deaths attributable to the earthquake has risen above 41,000.
