As only a few days left to go for the Super 12 games of the T20 World Cup, former cricketers and experts have also started choosing their teams who will be hot favorites to win the ICC’s marquee tournament. And now, Shane Warne, the former Australian cricketer has finally said his to favorites which he wants to win in T20 World Cup 2021. And that is none other than India and England.
The Indian team known as the men in blue started their journey on a resounding note, they won both the warm-up matches in a very comprehensive way and thus giving hope to other Indian cricket fans that they will try to win matches ahead of them. While on the other hand The Brits were defeated by India in their first practice game, but then the Brits came back to defeat New Zealand.
Well surely, the Virat Kohli-led Indian team is now set to start their campaign in the super twelfth against Pakistan which will be conducted on October 24th at the Dubai International cricket stadium, which is the most eagerly awaited match for aa now. The Three Lions will begin their journey on October 23rd against the West Indies which is led by Kieron Pollard. As Shane Warne said that he would like either India or England to lift the trophy, he also said that the Aaron Finch captained Australia should also not be taken lightly by any means.
While talking about this, Shane Warne also said that Pakistan and the Caribbean team cannot be left behind as they can also come up with some surprises. It is also perching and to note that the West Indies are defending champions as they have won the tournament back in 2016 under Darren Sammy’s leadership. Adding to this process not to write off Eoin Morgan and David Warner despite their poor run of form.
Shane Warne has also taken to Twitter and wrote, “I think Eng & India have to go in as fav’s for the T/20 WC. NZ always performs well in events too. But I have a feeling the Aussies are being underestimated as they have a lot of match-winners in their squad. Then you have Pakistan & the Wi. Excited to see who will win.”
He also made another tweet regarding David Warner and Eoin Morgan, that reads, “Ps Whoever wants to write of @davidwarner31 & @Eoin16 re their lack of form. Remember class is permanent & form is temporary – don’t be surprised if one of these players will be a player of the tournament #ICCT20WorldCup2021 ! Who will win followers?”
Australia started their warm-ups with a three-wicket win over the Black Caps at the Tolerance Oval in Abu Dhabi. However, in their second warm-up game, India defeated them by eight wickets at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. Prior to the World Cup, the Aussies lost away series at the hands of Bangladesh and West Indies as in both series, they lost by margins of 1-4.
Morgan’s form with the bat is actually a major concern for the England team as Eoin Morgan’s IPL 2021 did not go really well. He only managed to score 133 runs at an average of 11.08 in the recently concluded edition. Adding to this, Eoin Morgan’s T20 runs in 2021 showcased the struggle he had with the bat as the left-hander has scored a mere 82 runs in 7 T20 innings for England this year. However, the England skipper had said that he is ready to drop himself for winning the World Cup. On the other hand, David Warner has faced struggles to find his form. Warner was dropped from playing XI due to his performance not being up to his potential and in fact, in the two warm-up matches, Warner scored 0 and 1 respectively.
