Windham Rotunda, known in the WWE as Bray Wyatt and The Fiend, belonged to a prominent wrestling family, continuing the legacy of previous generations.
Bray Wyatt, a standout figure in the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) world, tragically passed away this Thursday. The news was confirmed by the company’s chief content officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, via a post on X (previously known as Twitter). Bray Wyatt was only 36 years old, and reports from TMZ suggest he succumbed to a heart attack.
In Paul Levesque’s recent X post, he mentioned: “Earlier today, we got a distressing call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda. He informed us of the sudden loss of our cherished WWE colleague, Windham Rotunda, widely recognized as Bray Wyatt. Our hearts go out to his family, and we request everyone to grant them some private moments during this tough time.”
ESPN reported that Bray Wyatt, whose real name was Windham Rotunda, had taken a break from WWE due to some health concerns, although specifics were not shared. He began his journey with WWE back in 2009, with a brief hiatus in 2021-2022. His return to WWE last September garnered a lot of attention, thanks to intriguing storylines and mysterious clips that attracted viewers.
TMZ highlighted that Bray Wyatt secured the title of world champion in WWE three times, including once for the WWE Championship and twice for the Universal Championship. After a short sabbatical from August 2018 to April 2019, he made a comeback introducing his new persona, The Fiend.
The legacy of wrestling runs deep in Wyatt’s bloodline. He is the son of the Hall of Famer, Mike Rotunda. His grandfather, Blackjack Mulligan, was a notable figure in wrestling. Upholding the family tradition, his uncles, Barry and Kendall Windham, have also carved their names in the wrestling domain, as reported by various media sources.
