South Africa T20 world cup encounter against the West Indies was missed by Quinton De Kock after he made a decision that he will not take the knee for the black lives matter movement. This decision which was made by Quinton De Kock has grabbed the LimeLight in the world of cricket. Even the cricket fans started being offended and because of which Quinton De Kock later issued an apology.
In the apology letter which was uploaded by the official Twitter account of Cricket of South Africa, he stated that he did not have any intention to hurt the sentiments of anybody by not taking a knee. He apologized for the hurt, confusion, and anger he had caused and he then felt to explain a little bit about himself. The South African cricketer said that the black lives matter movement is extremely close to his heart and the way things turned out on the matchday was not to his liking which made him take the decision. He also agreed that he will take the knee in all the upcoming matches.
After the apology the South African batter Rassie Van Der Dussen has informed that the Proteas will welcome back Quinton De Kock with open arms. Adding to this he also said that Quinton De Kock is one of the best players in the world and has said that nobody holds any grievances against him for the actions or the decisions he took.
According to some reports of iol.co.za Rassie Van Der Dussen said, “Quinny is one of the best players in the world. The team will welcome him back with open arms. It is not even a case of him having to ask us. We understood what he did. If he is selected, which I am sure he will be, he will come back right away, like nothing ever happened. Nothing holds any grievances. “
While talking about him, Rassie Van Der Dussen said that Quinton De Kock is in the right frame of mind in order to once again produce match-winning performances from the South African side. Van der Dussen stated that De Kock is a world-class player and has also termed him as a brother. He said, “Hopefully he can be in the right frame of mind to deliver those match-winning performances that he has always had and is so valuable to us as a team. More important is having Quinny on the field, and having our brother and friend and world-class player back in the team.”
Rassie Van Der Dussen further added that Quinton De Kock is remorseful for his actions and then he concluded the statement by stating that everyone on the South African side supports him. “Quinny is remorseful, and I can say that in a positive way. Even though he took that decision everyone understood why he took that decision and we supported him even though the timing wasn’t great the whole day and it was a bit chaotic to the match but we all supported him,” Van Der Dussen said while concluding the statement.
