Studio A24’s upcoming fantasy movie named The legend of Ochi will have Willem Dafoe and Emily Watson in the lead roles. The film was announced to be directed by debutant Isaiah Saxon, who initially directed music videos and projects for stars and artists like Panda Bear, Bjork, Kanye West, Grizzly Bear, and Dirty Projectors.
According to a report by Deadline, The legend of Ochi, also starring Helena Zangel and Finn Wolfhard, is based on Isaiah Saxon’s original characters.
The plot is based on a story where a young girl played by Zangel ran away from home and learned to communicate with an elusive animal called Ochi.
The legend of Ochi will be produced by Encyclopedia Pictura and Saxson, along with Richard Peete and Traci Carlson. At the same time, Filmmaker duo Joe Russo and Anthony, Angla Russo, and Mike Larocca will be executive producers with Alex Palpinger and Louise Lovegrove.
The film will include an original score by Dave Longstreth, a composer who is a frequent collaborator of Encyclopedia Pictura and Isaiah Saxon.
Willem previously played a role in The lighthouse alongside Robert Pattinson, and he described his experience as a strange one because they both spent 32 days shooting but didn’t know each other but the characters. So, basically, we knew each other only during the scene.
Emily Watson, the 54-year actress, was nominated for an Oscar for her debut film role in Lars Von Trier’s Breaking waves as Bess McNeil. She was known for her role in Jackie and Jacqueline du Pré in Hilary and won the British Independent Award for best actress for Jackie.
Willem Dafoe gained his popularity for a role in To live and die in L.A. while his best known was in Oliver Stone’s Platoon as Sgt. Elias Grodin, for which Willem earned his first Academy Nominations.
Willem Dafoe and Emily Watson, Starring The legend of Ochi, will release on July 29, 2022. The film Directed by Saxon will be available in the English language and also in fantasy and Animation genres.
