In a now going super viral heartwarming video, which has been doing rounds on the internet, you can see a herd of elephants who all are rushing towards their caretaker. Well, the elephants were meeting their caretaker after being apart for 14 months and they surely missed their caretaker as seen in the video. As in the video clip, the caretaker is initially calling out to the herd as they wade through a shallow water body. After spotting him, the super happy herd of the elephants move hurriedly towards him.
They can also be heard trumpeting gleefully and as the herd approaches him, the man pats them on their face showing how happy he himself is. The pure bond of love and their affection that is seen in the video by the small gesture of the elephants by touching him with their trunk is super heartwarming for sure. “This melts my heart. Those elephants love him and are thrilled to see him again. Incredibly sweet. Just listen to the sounds they are making.

The viral video clip which was shared by Buitengebieden, a Twitter user from the Netherlands has now got more than 3 million views. “Elephants reunite with their caretaker after 14 months,” is the caption of the tweet shared online on the Internet. A Twitter user identified the man as Derek Thompson. “He left his career as a Toronto firefighter to devote his life to caring for elephants. This is on the sanctuary in Thailand he and his wife Lek started,” the Twitter user said in the comment section. Sangdeaun Lek Chailert’s sanctuary is very famous for fostering elephants and the Elephant Nature Park is an elephant rescue and rehabilitation center too.
It is in Chiang Mai province, Northern Thailand and many elephants, dogs, cats, buffaloes, and many other animals made this park their home. Free of chains and boundaries, the animals are taken care of their physical and emotional scars by caretakers in the park which was established in the 1990s. The founder of the Elephant Nature Park, Chailert was invited to Washington, DC back in 2010 by then US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to honor her as one of six Women Heroes of Global Conservation.
Well, she was named as one of Time Magazine’s Heroes of Asia for her good work in conservation in 2005 and the Ford Foundation’s “Hero of the Planet” back in 2001, as per Elephant Nature Park website. All the social media users who came across the video were left speechless saying the heartwarming bond between the caretaker and the elephants and totally showed how much they loved watching such heart-touching videos on the internet in the comment section of the post.
