Sometimes the internet amazes you with interesting posts that make our day better. Currently such a note from a very famous freedom fighter is taking the internet by storm. All the social media users and the Desi netizens who come across that are in amazement. It was the 125th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose.
He is also famous as Netaji. On his birth anniversary a copy of his resignation letter was spreading. The copy was available from the Indian Civil Service (ICS). Now the post is going crazy viral on the internet. According to the post the resignation letter is from April 22, 1921. Subhash Chandra Bose wrote this letter to Edwin Montagu. At that time, Montagu was the secretary of state. As per the letter, Netaji wrote:
“I desire to have my name removed from the list of probationers in the Indian Civil Service.”
As per the resources, Bose was only 24 years old when he decided to resign.
Netaji also mentioned that if his resignation, he will return 100 pounds allowance. He said that he will return that to the Indian Office. Historian Leonard A. Gordon, authored the book:
“Brothers Against the Raj: A Biography of Indian Nationalists Sarat and Subhas Chandra Bose”
In this book, he mentioned that Bose got placed fourth in the competitive ICS examination. The exam was back then held in August 1920.
And the facsimile copy of Netaji’s resignation letter is doing all rounds on the internet. The copy was actually sourced from the National Archives India. Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Parveen Kaswan shared it on his Twitter account. His post got many likes.
“On April 22, 1921 Subhash #Bose resigned from the Indian Civil Service to participate in the Freedom struggle. For a greater cause. He was 24 years old then. His original resignation letter from service. Tribute on his birth anniversary.” IFS officer Parveen Kaswan captioned it with the photo.
“Only a courageous, selfless and spirited soul like #Subhas Bose could take up such a decision for a greater cause – to free his motherland from British rule,” a Twitter user commented on the resignation letter’s photo, posted on Kaswan’s account.
“His handwriting is very neat, flowing, well formed and firm. My interpretation is that it shows a man who resolves logical thinking and clarity of thoughts. Experts can definitely give a better interpretation” said another.
On 22nd April in the year 1921, Subhash Bose resigned from Indian Civil Service. He did so in order to participate in the Freedom struggle. He indeed did this for a greater cause.
Bose left the Indian civil services in April in the year 1921. Bose then joined the freedom movement. The freedom movement was against British colonialism. He founded the Azad Hind Fauj, which is the Indian National Army, in 1942. The Indian national army fought against the British.Bose is also famous for the slogan, “Give me blood, and I shall give you freedom!”. It was on August 18 in 1945, Bose succumbed to injuries. This was due to an airplane accident. Every year, India celebrates Bose’s birth anniversary as “Parakram Diwas.” This is annually done to honour his “selfless service” to the nation.
