Inamullah Samangani, a spokesman for the Taliban leadership, slammed Washington’s “unfair” plan to compensate victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks with Afghanistan’s assets on Sunday.
“US President Joe Biden’s latest decision on the management of Afghanistan’s exchange rate is a fast, unfair retaliation that exposes the US extreme degraded morality,” Samangani was cited as saying by the Xinhua news agency.
Especially in the aftermath of US soldiers from Afghanistan in August 2021, the US froze over $10 billion worth of assets held by Afghanistan’s banking system, exacerbating the nation’s economic turmoil and suffering.
Without the Taliban-run administration’s agreement, Biden reportedly directed the allocation of 3.5 billion dollars from assets as damage to victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and transferred another 3.5 billion dollars to the Afghans as humanitarian help in a decree published on Friday.

Because Afghan assets are Afghan assets, the Americans cannot pay reparations or provide humanitarian aid to Afghans “Samangani remarked. “That everybody knows how no Afghan has been involved, no attacker was Afghan, the aircrafts used for the threats didn’t relate to Afghanistan, and the territory from which the attacks were launched didn’t belong to Afghanistan,” Samangani said in reference to the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington on September 11, 2001.
“It is completely immoral and unfair to take compensation from Afghanistan assets,” the official stated. During in the US’s 20-year military involvement in Afghanistan, Samangani claims that US troops have killed over 100,000 Afghans. Millions of Afghans have indeed been detained, injured, or forced to from their homes, and “who should compensate them?” Samangani remarked. “The world’s wealthiest country is stealing from the world’s poorest country,” he claimed.
