Twitter now allows users to send and receive tips using an Ethereum wallet.

Twitter has added support for Ethereum wallets, allowing users to tip their favourite authors. This follows the addition of Bitcoin tips to the microblogging site in September.
Because users “lead the discourse on Twitter,” according to a Twitter blog post, the company aims to make it easy for people to “help each other beyond Follows, Retweets, and Likes,” which is why Tip Jar was created. The blog continues, “This is a first step in our work to offer new avenues for individuals to receive and demonstrate support on Twitter – with money.”

Jane Manchun Wong, a reverse engineering expert, revealed on Twitter on Thursday that Tip Jar now allows users to input their Ethereum addresses. It’s worth noting that Indian artists could previously only share links to their Bitcoin, Patreon, or Razorpay accounts in their Tips area. Twitter’s Tips Jar function has recently gained support for the Paytm payment mechanism.

How may Ethereum suggestions be enabled by creators?

Creators must go to their Twitter app profile and click the “Edit Profile” option to enable the Ethereum tipping feature. ‘Edit your profile’ is the link to use. If you scroll to the bottom, you’ll notice a “Tips” option that, if you haven’t used it previously, will be set to “off.”
Whether this option isn’t available to you, make sure you’ve put your date of birth in your profile. Because Twitter does not allow users under the age of 18 to use this function, it will not appear on your account unless you enter actual age.

The startup told Coindesk that tipping with ETH and ERC-20 tokens (including Ethereum-based stablecoins) will be supported. When you select “Tips,” you’ll be directed to some other screen with an on/off toggle that allows you to accept or reject tips on your account.
There’ll be a few text areas under this that correlate to various payment options, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Patreon, Paytm, and Razorpay. You can now start receiving tips by selecting Ethereum and linking your wallet address.

Twitter also introduced a means for users to authenticate NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens) profile images starting in January. Users can now link any NFT they own to their Twitter account, and the site will display real NFT profile images with a new hexagon-shaped mask as proof of validity.
