Melngailis began emptying her restaurant’s assets and funneling them to Fox after he duped her into believing he could immortalize her dog and help her develop her culinary business.

A few years later, Fox and Melngailis are married and on the run after stealing over $2 million from the restaurant and its employees. They are finally apprehended in a Tennessee hotel. Fox, whose actual name is Anthony Strangis, orders a Domino’s pizza. And what after that? Is a mystery we do not wish to reveal.

Chris Smith, the executive producer of Tiger King and the filmmaker of Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, is the director of the new four-part documentary. It will look at how Melngailis went from being a celebrated pioneer of modern vegan food to being dubbed the “vegan fugitive.”
