Recently Akshay Kumar announced his upcoming movie Gorkha by uploading the poster on his Instagram page. But then, a retired Indian Army officer pointed out an error in the poster of this upcoming film Gorkha. Replying to this, the actor promised to ‘take utmost care so that he can maintain authenticity during the shoot. If you are wondering what may go wrong in the photo, it is the shape of the khukri, which is a type of machete. Major Manik M Jolly, a former officer of one of the Gorkha Rifles regiments, took to Twitter to inform about the error that the shape of the khukri (a type of machete) was incorrect on the poster of Gorkha.
As he attached the photo of a khukri along with the Gorkha poster, the officer captioned, “Dear @akshaykumar Ji, as an ex Gorkha officer, my thanks to you for making this movie. However, details matter. Kindly get the Khukri right. The sharp edge is on the other side. It is not a sword. Khukri strikes from the inner side of the blade. Ref pic of Khukri att. Thanks.”
Replying to this tweet made by the officer, Akshay Kumar wrote, “Dear Maj Jolly, thank you so much for pointing this out. We’ll take utmost care while filming. I’m very proud and honored to be making Gorkha. Any suggestions to get it closest to reality would be most appreciated.”
Many Twitter users appreciated the officer for the details he shared and the way he pointed out the error in a perfect way. Many people also pointed out that similar incidents have been spotted before, and Bollywood should do some research and perfectly portray them. According to the users, these types of errors are often spotted and it has to be stopped now. And indeed it is not the first time that Bollywood has done this type of mistake without doing some more research on it. It has made many people upset and especially in the movies based on army officers, the mistakes are repeated which are usually pointed out by many army officers themselves.
Akshay announced Gorkha on Friday. This film is based on the life of Major General Ian Cardozo. General Ian Cardozo lost his leg in a landmine blast but he overcame his disability and then became the first war-disabled officer of the Indian Army to command a battalion and a brigade. The film will be directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan. The film will be produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma.
In an Instagram post, Akshay shared the first look poster of the film and captioned, “Sometimes you come across stories so inspiring that you just want to make them. #Gorkha – on the life of legendary war hero, Major General Ian Cardozo is one such film. Honored to essay the role of an icon and present this special film.” Well, it seems like Akshay Kumar will be busy for some time, as there’s a list of films in which Akshay Kumar will be seen. Apart from Gorkha, Akshay Kumar has several films, including Sooryavanshi, Bachchan Pandey, Ram Setu, Raksha Bandhan, Prithviraj, and Atrangi Re.
This is not the first time that the army officer has found errors in the poster of the films. Major Manik Jolly has also found errors in other films which are based on army officers such as a biopic movie on Sam Manekshaw, where Vicky Kaushal played the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw and wore the Army uniform with the golden rank batches but the Gurkha officers always wear black rank batches and not golden.
