The Made in Abyss Season 2 will premiere sometime in 2022, according to an official announcement made in May 2020. We didn’t have a definite release date at the time, and knowing how the market works, we predicted that it wouldn’t be before the Spring 2022 anime season, if not later in the year.
This was also confirmed by the show’s official Twitter account, which also announced an official online fan meeting in November 2021, which might mean we’ll learn more about the show’s second season. Although the fan meetup yielded no fresh information, our initial hunch was correct.

An official trailer for the show’s Made in Abyss Season 2 has yet to be produced.
Made in Abyss season 2 plot
Based on the Made in Abyss Season 2 title, we assume – though we haven’t confirmed – that the second season would mostly focus on “The Golden City” story from chapter 49, which is part of the wider Ganja Arc, most likely be adopted in this season.
Ganja enters the 6th Layer in this chapter, where many human-sized interference units instantly confront them, unlike Gaburoon. Interference units can understand them but not communicate with them.
Ganja follows the organization because he believes they are trustworthy. Soon after, an unknown entity kidnaps one of the interference units, prompting the others to flee to safety. Ganja restrains the interference units after tripping over a herd of them.
Much to Ganja’s amazement, the interference units apologize for compromising them with fluid human language. Interference units learned their language by watching and guessing what they would say, and Ganja chooses to trust them and takes down the links set on them.
Further Storyline:
Ganja decides to build up a permanent camp precisely where they are after learning about the consequences of attempting to climb from the 6th Layer and accepting the truth that they will not be returning to the surface. Ganja then asks the Interference Units to discover drinkable water sources for them.
As a result, Ganja must personally check the premises. The five suggested spots are crawling with dangerous monsters, one is tainted with mining detritus, another has overwhelming hot water, and only the last is deemed safe. The gang then adjusts to life in the 6th tier.
Vueko and her guide Irumyuui become closer as Irumyuui learns Vueko’s language. She learns from Irumyuui that she was considered a cursed child in her tribe because she was barren and should be sacrificed to the Abyss rather than a ganja guide.
Vueko, who has been through a similar ordeal before, empathizes with Irumyuui and forms a maternal attachment with her. Later, Irumyuui adopts a hermit rat found in a hat. During this time, he is unfortunately caught by a predator. Vueko wakes up after a while to discover that Irumyuui has diarrhea.
She sees clear insect eggs in her excrement when she analyses it. Your attention is now necessary because one member’s toes have melted and hardened like lead, causing the bulk to spread throughout the Ganja.
Vueko is unsure of his mission, and Wazukyan worries if the interference units know it. This is a synopsis of the original manga’s “The Golden City” tale, and we expect the second season will adapt to these events.
Recap of Season 1
To refresh your memory, the Made in Abyss series follows Riko. He is a teenage orphan who lives on an island in the Beoluska Sea in the city of Orth. The town is encircled by a mysterious huge hole. It is the bottom of which extends deep into the Earth, and the Abyss is the name given to this hole.
The Abyss contains enigmatic abandoned treasures and the ruins of a sophisticated civilization that vanished millennia ago. It is thus a site investigated by bounty hunters. They are Cave Raiders, who undertake arduous and deadly descents to collect all the relics they can uncover.
In addition to the hideous fauna and flora, the Cave Raiders must contend with a vast evil. It is that manifests itself as they descend deeper into the Abyss. It is where a series of strata impose pressure that afflicts them and eventually kills them.
The Curse of the Abyss is the name given to this horror. And only a few explorers have traveled to the darkest depths and returned to tell the tale. Riko’s ambition is to follow in her mother’s footsteps. And become a legendary Cave Raider (the White Whistles), solving the Abyss’ riddles.
She is attacked by an Abyss al beast one day while exploring the caves. But is saved by a robot who appears to be a human kid.
