It was a memorable day for India as India won two medals at Tokyo Olympics 2020. The gold medal was surely won by talented Indian PlayersNeeraj Chopra in the men’s javelin throw and the bronze medal was now won by Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia in Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia defeated Kazakhstan Daulet Niyazbekov in the 65kg men’s wrestling bronze medal match at Tokyo Olympics 2020 which was actually conducted at Makuhari Messe Hall on Saturday.
Bajrang Punia scored the first point through a penalty which was on Niyazbekov. The Kazakhstan wrestler tried hard to clear the deficit as fast as possible and he also tried to have Bajrang Punia on the backfoot but the Indian wrestler was smart enough to defend himself from the danger. And at the end of the first round, the Indian wrestler doubled his leads as he pushed his opponent out of the bounds.
In the second period and halfway through the Indian wrestler looked very much dominant than his opponent and as a result, he also scored a two-point takedown and made the score 4-0. Bajrang Punia from there kick-started and then increased to an 8-0 win, because of his fine aggressive wrestling.
And with this when the Indian wrestler emulated his mentor Yogeshwar Dutt, who actually won the bronze medal in the London Olympics 2020 at 60 kg freestyle. And with the successful won, Bajrang Punia brought an end to India’s wrestling camp in Tokyo along with the silver medal.
Earlier the Indian wrestler defeated Morteza Ghiasi of Iran in the quarter-finals by fall and then survived a fierce competition against Ernazar Akmataliev of Kyrgyzstan, which was a round of 16 so that he could enter the semis. But unfortunately, Bajrang Punia lost his semi-final match against Haji Aliyev of Azerbaijan, and as a result, she entered the bronze medal match.
Bajrang Punia’s bronze medal is India’s 7th Olympic wrestling medal and the second medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Bajrang Punia’s amazing win increased the medal tally of India’s medal in Tokyo to seven. The previous 6 medals were born by Mirabai Chanu which was a silver medal in weightlifting, Lovlina Borgohain’ bronze medal in boxing, bronze medal won by PV Sindhu in badminton, bronze medal won’t buy India cement hockey team, Ravi Kumar Dahiya’s silver medal in wrestling and Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal in the javelin throw.
