Borgen — Power & Glory, also known as Borgen season 4, is officially available on Netflix, and it seems to be even more exciting than the previous seasons. The first series of Borgen portrayed the story of how, against all odds, minor centrist politician Birgitte Nyborg became Denmark’s first female prime minister. She quickly fell out of favor, becoming a businesswoman and public speaker before founding the New Democrats, a new political party.
Birgitte embraces her post as foreign minister in Borgen — Power & Glory.
“We’re finally getting started with Borgen again, and it’s definitely about time,” says Sidse Babett Knudsen. “I have been looking forward to this moment so much that I feel like I will explode. What a privilege to be able to ride the carousel once again with this character that I love so much.” Borgen – Power and Glory tackle some of today’s most pressing political topics, including Denmark’s place in the modern world, the superpowers’ struggle for control of the Arctic, and, not least, the climate disaster. The main plot revolves around the battle for power and its effects on people professionally and personally.

Plot & Storyline of Borgen Season 4
Borgen — Power & Glory follows Sidse Babett Knudsen’s character Birgitte Nyborg as she adjusts to her new post as foreign minister and her staff and the media who cover her.
When a drilling company discovers oil in Greenland, Birgitte Nyborg is the new Minister of Foreign Affairs. It’s an event that heralds the start of an international struggle for power in the Arctic and one in which Nyborg, despite Denmark’s ‘big brother’ relationship with Greenland, must repeatedly accept that when it comes to the international superpowers, Denmark is the minor player – and a somewhat unruly one! This fourth season also looks at Katrine Fnsmark (Birgitte Hjort Srensen), who has moved on from her position as Birgitte’s head of press and is now working as the head of a huge countrywide television station’s news department.
“The focus of the series will continue to be on Birgitte Nyborg, who is now the Minister for Foreign Affairs, and her staff,” according to What’s on Netflix. It further reads, “Meanwhile, Katrine Fønsmark, who was previously Brigette’s head of press, is now the head of a large department for a nationwide television station.” The official Netflix synopsis states, “The series deals with some of the biggest political issues of our time. The relevance of the Danish Realm in the modern world, the superpowers’ battle for control of the Arctic – and not least, the climate crisis. The main story focuses on the power struggle and what power does to people. Both professionally and on a personal level.”
