A live-action version of the 1940 cartoon film with the same name, Pinocchio, is about to be released. The movie will debut exclusively on Disney+ on September 8, 2022, as it was announced on April 8, 2015.
This live-action adaptation of the well-known story of a wooden puppet who sets out on an exciting quest to become a real kid is directed by Academy Award® winner Robert Zemeckis. Pinocchio’s “conscience” and guide are played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Cynthia Erivo, respectively. The cast also includes Lewin Lloyd as Lampwick, Giuseppe Battiston as Seor Stromboli, and Kyanne Lamaya as Fabiana (and her marionette Sabina).
Development of The movie Pinocchio.
According to reports, Sam Mendes was selected to helm the picture in May 2017, and Chris Weitz wrote the screenplay. However, Paul King was officially announced as the director in February 2018, and Weitz’s script was slated to be revised by Jack Thorne in Pinocchio.
Weitz indicated that the screenplay was still being worked on August 21, 2018, and that it was anticipated that production will start in Italy and England in 2019.
Tom Hanks had begun preliminary negotiations to portray Geppetto in November 2018. It was revealed in January 2019 that Paul King has left his position as director for personal reasons.
It was revealed in October 2019 that Chris Weitz had co-written a new script with Simon Farnaby and King and that Robert Zemeckis was in discussions on Pinocchio to take over as the film’s director. Along with Andrew Milano, Chris Weitz will produce the movie. Tom Hanks reportedly declined the part of Geppeto as well. 2018-11-29 Zemeckis formally accepted the position of director. Disney said in August 2020 that Hanks was once more being considered for the Geppetto role.
It was confirmed that the movie would debut only on Disney+ on December 10, 2020. It was revealed that Luke Evans had been chosen to play The Coachman on January 26, 2021.

The Blue Fairy in Pinocchio is portrayed in the original film as being of Caucasian descent, precisely as in the Italian novel that the movie is based on, however, she is of African-American heritage in the live-action remake.
