During the free virtual fan event, Johnson stated that he was “born to play Black Adam” in the DCEU.

“This character, this film, and this universe has been a gigantic passion project of mine for a very long time, and I’ve worked so hard work these hands, my fingers to the bone on it because it’s the kind of project that I know comes along once in a lifetime. And the truth is, I was born to play Black Adam,” according to the 49-year-old actor.

Black Adam is a spin-off of Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema’s Shazam! stars Zachary Levi. The character was originally featured in DC Comics in the 1940s as a power-crazed villain. In the early 2000s, he rose to prominence as an anti-hero.

The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who previously directed Dwayne in the forthcoming Jungle Cruise. Dwayne revealed that Black Adam has recently begun post-production and promised that the film would include some of the most epic action sequences ever recorded.

“The film has without questions some of the biggest action sequences I have ever been a part of. And I’m so proud and excited of our incredible team who are working away to create breathtakingly holy s**t scenes that I know you’re really,” he said.

Aldis Hodge will play Hawkman, Noah Centineo will play Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell will play Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan will play Dr Fate in Black Adam.

In a behind-the-scenes video, former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan stated that working on the film was an unrivalled experience for him.

“I’ve never seen the likes of this before. Having done James Bond for ten years for films, nothing compares to this,” he stated.

Johnson also co-produced the film alongside Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions and Beau Flynn’s FlynnPictureCo.

On July 29, 2022, Black Adam will be published in the United States.
