Everything We Know So Far About “Creed 3”

With the release of Creed in 2015, the long-dormant Rocky franchise was given new vitality. Fans of the 1977 Best Picture winner and its several sequels first expressed scepticism about Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa handing the reigns over to a younger boxing champion. Those worries ultimately turned out to be unjustified because Creed not only stood up to the franchise’s heritage but perhaps even exceeded it. Adonis Creed, a new iconic name for the franchise, was also established (Michael B. Jordan), the franchise’s new hero and the son of Rocky’s former adversary and close friend, Apollo Creed.

Creed is an incredibly brilliant remake that further develops prior characters meaningfully (Carl Weathers). Adonis sacrificed a potential career to follow his passion for professional boxing in the first Creed movie, directed by Ryan Coogler (Black Panther). Still, he was determined to avoid stepping into his father’s shoes.

Other details:

He seeks out Rocky Balboa, who trains Adonis to grow as a person as well as a powerful combatant. Steven Caple Jr.’s (The Land) Creed II, which showed that the original movie wasn’t a fluke, established Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) and his son Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu) as well-developed opponents while telling a gripping story of Adonis becoming a husband and parent. It appeared like Creed II would have marked the conclusion of the Rocky series as Sylvester Stallone announced his retirement from the role of Rocky Balboa. However, a third movie was out in production shortly after Creed II was out.

This time, Michael B. Jordan will not only return to the role of the main character and produce the movie, but he will also be making his directorial debut. Creed III (2023) is looking to be a great trilogy finale thanks to Ryan Coogler’s continued involvement as executive producer and Jordan’s eagerness to demonstrate his filmmaking abilities. We know about the following chapter in Adonis’s story before Creed III releases next year.

Creed 3 -1

Creed III Release date.

The third instalment of the Adonis Creed trilogy, Creed III, was initially ready for release in November 2022. However, it has now been out that it will arrive on March 3, 2023. Creed III is ready to make its theatrical debut, just like the previous two movies. Regarding a streaming distribution, Prime Video appears to be the most likely option given its recent multi-billion dollar acquisition of Rocky series owner MGM.

The cast of Creed III

Michael B. Jordan will return to the role of Adonis Creed’s title character and serve as the film’s director. Phylicia Rashad (Soul) and Tessa Thompson (Thor: Love and Thunder) will join him as his wife, Bianca Creed and his mother, Mary Anne Creed, make this the first occasion Rocky Balboa won’t be there.

The two significant boxers from Adonis’ previous two movies, who are both real-life boxing competitors, are also back. These actors include Florian Munteanu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) as Viktor Drago in the second movie and Tony “Bomber” Bellew (Creed) as “Pretty” Ricky Conlan in the first movie. This would suggest that Jonathan Majors’ portrayal of Damien Anderson in Creed is a new obstacle for Creed to face. Other well-known real-life boxers will also appear in the movie, including renowned cutman Jacob “Stitch” Duran, who returns from the first two movies, and boxing world champion Canelo Alvarez, who will make his acting debut as Saul. The remaining cast members include Thaddeus J. Mixson, Spence Moore II (We Are Who We Are), Selanis Leyva (Spider-Man: Homecoming), and (South of Heaven).

The plot of Creed III

The plot elements are scarce, and it’s hard to predict what will happen in this sequel considering that each Rocky and Creed movie usually tells its standalone tale without openly hinting at a sequel. When we last left Adonis, he had just defeated Viktor Drago in a fight, putting an end to their long-standing feud after Apollo Creed’s death in Rocky IV at the hands of Viktor’s father, Ivan Drago (1985). Almost all of the characters had reasonably pleasant endings.

Rocky can reestablish contact with his estranged family, and Ivan and Viktor decide to put their small-minded rivalry aside and concentrate on forging a healthy father-son bond. Adonis comes to terms with his family’s heritage. As opposed to following in the footsteps of other parental figures in this series who lost touch with their children, the next movie will probably focus on Adonis improving even more as a father to his daughter.

Trailer

Creed III is not yet in production, although it is well along. Online set photographs have already surfaced, showing Michael B. Jordan in the director’s chair and providing a first look at the newest antagonist in the boxing series, Damien Anderson, who will be by Lovecraft County (2020) and Loki (2021) actor Jonathan Majors. Simu Liu, who plays Majors in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, joked on Twitter that “the Avengers are straight up effed” in response to Majors’ ripped physique transformation in the Creed III set photos. It’s unclear whether Majors was preparing for a fight with Adonis Creed in the upcoming sequel or to prepare for a fight with the Avengers in the eagerly anticipated Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (2025).
