Here are all the details you need to know about Dota 2’s International 10

Taking place this fall, at the Arena Națională in Bucharest, Romania, the International Ten returns. According to a blog post from Valve earlier today, the international ten ticket sales began on September 22. Dota Pro Circuit [DPC] teams and regional qualifiers qualified eighteen teams to compete in the main event. Each of them would compete for the Aegis of Champions title. Finally, the date of the International 10 tournament (TI10) will take place. Eighteen teams compete with a prize pool of US$40 million. While the winner takes home the coveted Aegis of Champions, the lion’s share goes to the winning team.

In 2011, Germany was the last host country of the award ceremony, which returned to Europe after an absence of 11 years. “TI”, as it was known, was an annual event until ending in 2020 amid the Coronavirus Pandemic, which forced every Esports initiative to move online.

It has recently come to light that Dota2 is selling tickets for the TI10 conference after careful considerations to accommodate a live audience in the Arena Națională and some additional requirements placed upon visitors to the event who must follow safety protocols. Following what Dota2 has declared, Valve has listed these in order below.

  • All TI10 attendees must have completed their final vaccination at least ten days before this event, which means they must be fully masked and fully vaccinated.
  • The ticket office will require proof of vaccination status (along with a valid ID) from all patrons wishing to enter the Arena grounds or Arena itself. The vaccination verification tent stands close to Will Call. It is important to have your vaccination certificate in either English or Romanian to be verified.
  • Those attending the event will be required to wear their RFID badges and a vaccination verification wristband.
  • Furthermore, we will also be requiring participants to wear masks as a precaution.
  • Note: If you intend to travel from outside Romania to attend this event, please inquire about any additional rules and restrictions that may apply in your country.

Upon conclusion of the Group Stage, the International Ten will proceed to the Playoffs and Grand Finals.

While the Main Event takes place from October 12 to 17, the Group Stage will run from October 7-10. For the main event, registration will be available in three separate packages of two days each:

  • Week 1 (October 12 and 13): 249 Lei (approximately $60)
  • 249 Lei (approximately USD 60) for midweek 2 (October 14 and 15)
  • Finals: 999 Lei (approximately $237 USD) (October 16 and 17)
  • Tickets go on sale on September 22. You can cover your seat at the largest Dota2 Esports tournament ever.

An overview of the prize pool

TI10 held the record for the largest prize pot in esports history in terms of the prize pool. Its 40,018,195-dollar pot rivaled the 34,34.3 million-dollar pot from TI9. TI10 Battle Pass sales contributed 25 percent of the initial prize pool of US$1.6 million to the tournament’s massive prize pool, made possible by crowd funders in the Dota 2 community.

The prize money for this event will also be the highest of any eSports tournament, making it the largest prize pool in a single event.

No matter how they do, TI10 qualifiers are guaranteed big wins regardless of whether or not they win the grand prize. Earning second place will make the team US$5.2 million, reaching the top eight will result in a team earning US$1 million, and earning eighth place will net the team US$5.2 million. Getting last will net a team $100,000 regardless of whether they win the grand prize.

Below is TI10’s prize pool, broken down in its entirety:

  • US$18,208,300 for the winners
  • USD 5,202,400 – 2nd place
  • The third-place prize is $3,601,600
  • 240,000 U.S. dollars in 4th place
  • Fifth and sixth places: US$1,400,600
  • Seventh and eighteenth positions: US$1,050.00
  • US$800,400 for 9th-12th place
  • The 13th-16th place prize is $603,300
  • US$100,000 for 17th-18th place

Where to watch

In-game Dota TV, as well as the official Twitch and YouTube channels, will broadcast TI10 live.

Secondary and tertiary streams will also be available to accommodate the number of matches played simultaneously during the Group Stage.
