Joker 2: Release Date, Title, Cast

Put on a cheerful expression since Joker 2 is now a reality.

A sequel was reportedly confirmed back in November 2019. However, it quickly turned out to be untrue. Then, in May 2021, it appeared that progress on the following instalment had been confirmed.

The finished script, co-written with Scott Silver, was shared by writer-director Todd Phillips in June 2022, along with the follow-up’s title (actually, it looks like the script was finished back in May). What can we learn about the sequel as a result?

The French term for a “shared psychosis” is “folie à deux,” which is also frequently used in English to describe this specific type of mental disease. It refers to a “delusion or mental illness shared by two people in close association.”

The title indicates that Arthur Fleck’s shattered psyche will once more be examined on screen. Still, it could also mean the appearance of a second protagonist as a real second person with whom Joker reveals his intentions.

We have strong opinions on how poorly Joker used stereotypes of mental illness and can only hope that the sequel does better.

Joker 2 Release date

No clue! Even though the script is complete, there is no definite time frame for a release date because production has not yet begun.

Black Adam, Aquaman 2, The Flash, and Shazam are just a few of the DC films that Warner Bros. has in October. All-out Fury of the Gods in 2023.

We don’t think a sequel would need to follow the DC universe’s main storyline as the first film did, so it could come out whenever the other movies’ stories are finished.

We would be shocked if it materialised before 2023.

The cast of Joker 2

Regarding Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda, or the Scarlet Witch, her narrative journey with Doctor Strange feels quite finished, and there’s also the entire matter of her perhaps passing away following the events of the sequel. “As for Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda, aka Scarlet Witch, her story arc with Doctor Strange feels rather wrapped up – and there’s also that whole issue of her potentially being dead after the events of the sequel.

In addition, Rachel McAdams’ Christine Palmer and Xochitl Gomez’s multiverse-hopping America Chavez might easily make a comeback.

That doesn’t mean she can’t feature in other movies, especially since there’s been no word about a Young Avengers movie (where she’d probably play a bigger role). “I would love to continue to play her, of course, and I’m excited to see what the MCU has in store for her and her character growth,” Gomez told Digital Spy.

In the mid-credits sequence, Charlize Theron appears as Clea, who eventually becomes Stephen Strange’s wife in the comics. He agrees to assist her in repairing an invasion he caused with his multiverse pranks.

Other details:

Theron will, therefore, surely return in the threequel (assuming it occurs, of course), and she may also appear in other projects.

Writer of Doctor Strange 2 According to Michael Waldron, Clea’s appearance was designed to end Strange’s romance with Christine. “They have a lot of great adventures in the comics, and we knew we wanted to introduce her, but it felt like we had to close the book to some extent on his love story with Christine Palmer, Rachel McAdams’ character,” he noted.

Take your pick from the rest of the MCU’s ever-expanding ensemble of characters! Even the deceased! The possibilities of the multiverse are limitless! God be with us, everyone.

There is no indication of who will return in the background. The first movie’s director, Scott Derrickson, was ready to helm the follow-up, but Sam Raimi took over midway through production.

The plot of Joker 2

Other than what we may infer from the title, no specific narrative details have been out as of yet (which we mentioned above). After the first Joker movie, Arthur had fully developed into the title character.

After the police put down the riots that tore across Gotham City, Arthur is being in prison at Arkham State Hospital in the closing scene. In the film’s concluding image, he dances along the hospital hallway, leaving scarlet tracks in his wake (presumably having killed the doctor examining him).

The most recent Batman film seemed to fit a new category that Joker was reportedly creating within the Worlds of DC for films that weren’t based on the main timeline but were fresh perspectives on their well-known characters without having to worry about continuity.

The other crucial question for the Joker sequel is who will be Arthur’s adversary. The Joker was, in many ways, his foil in the first movie. The film’s main plot revolved around his transformation from a hazily normal member of civil society into a ruthless killer. Where do we proceed from here, though? What new information about the Joker is there?

Recap of Joker

Phillips suddenly withdraws and says, “Well, maybe this is all fabricated by the Joker, and none of this happened, “Well, maybe this is all concocted by the Joker, and none of this happened.” The brief picture of Joker hitting his head on the glass in the psychiatric hospital and the revelation that his next-door neighbour Sophie (Zazie Beetz) was never truly his girlfriend are two hints that he is an “unreliable narrator.

” The final sequence, however, comes off as a huge cop-out and ultimately makes no sense because the movie is never set up, so Arthur is our narrator in the first place. What purpose does the closing scene make you wonder about all that has come before? Simply twisting us doesn’t cause us to reconsider all that came before because the direction is all over the place; at some points, Arthur is sympathetic, and at other times, he’s a monster. If Arthur is even the Joker and isn’t just a mentally ill patient in love with with deadly clowns, the closing scene only reinforces what we already knew: you can’t trust the Joker. Phillips once again weakens his story with a lack of depth and follow-through, failing to engage the viewer further.

Trailer

A first trailer, we’re afraid, is still quite a ways off since the script was just recently ready. Joker is currently available for streaming on Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play, and other online video portals.
