The third Hercule Poirot mystery, A Haunting in Venice, stars Kenneth Branagh as the clever Belgian detective from Agatha Christie. Poirot will use his renowned “little grey cells” in Italy this time after successfully solving the murders in Murder on the Orient Express (2017) and Death on the Nile (2022).
The story is described as “an eerie supernatural thriller” and is based on Christie’s book “Halloween Party,” according to its creators. This is a terrific evolution of the Hercule Poirot character as well as the Agatha Christie franchise, says star and director Kenneth Branagh of the film, which is now being filmed in London and Venice.
It is an amazing opportunity for us as filmmakers, and we are relishing the chance to deliver something truly spine-chilling for our devoted movie fans. It is based on a complex, little-known mystery story set on Halloween in an aesthetically stunning city.
When Will It Be Released ?

Plot for A Haunting in Venice
The story was influenced by Agatha Christie’s lesser-known “Halloween Party” novel from 1969. In contrast to earlier adaptations of classics like Death on the Nile and Murder on the Orient Express, this one will likely be less well-known to viewers. It seems like the filmmakers are confident that audiences are accustomed to Branagh’s Poirot and that they can now modify Christie’s work more than they previously could.
Following World War II, Poirot is depicted as being in self-imposed exile in Italy, where he unwillingly decides to attend a seance.
Poirot is faced with a horrifying and disturbing case when one of the guests is murdered. There is little doubt that the filmmakers intend to emphasise the Halloween theme, and the film is probably going to have a spooky vibe. We’ll be interested to see how big Poitor’s fabled moustache has become as well!
