Read here to know facts about Chris Martin! Career life, relationships and net worth to know about!

Christopher Anthony John Martin (born March 2, 1977) is an English singer-songwriter and musician best known for being the lead vocalist, pianist, guitarist, and co-founder of the rock band Coldplay. He attended University College London, where he established the band Starfish with classmates Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion.

Private life:

They were renamed Coldplay in 1998 and gained worldwide popularity with the publication of the song “Yellow” in 2000. Albums such as A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002), Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), and others won critical praise. As a Beatles member, he received seven Grammy Awards and nine Brit Awards.

As of 2021, they have sold over 100 million records globally, making them the most successful band of the twenty-first century. Martin was in Debrett’s list of the UK’s most influential people in 2017.

In a 2012 interview with the Daily Mirror, Martin claimed that he had been suffering from tinnitus since he was a youngster, though he said he first noticed the symptoms “when listening to loud music.”

As a result, Martin performs with highly filtered earplugs or specialized in-ear monitors and has advised his bandmates to do the same as a precaution. He has also advised his children to wear hearing protection when attending concerts. Martin has also joined the Royal National Institute for Deaf People to raise awareness about hearing loss.

Martin was the World’s Sexiest Vegetarian by PETA in 2005. Following his divorce from Gwyneth Paltrow, he resumed eating meat. Martin is an Exeter City supporter. A former Martin classmate discovered a cassette tape in February 2020. It included a three-minute instrumental composition called “Electric Thunder,” which Martin, a 12-year-old student at Exeter Cathedral School, composed. Martin played keyboards on the track while other students from the Grandisson Ensemble performed. At the auction, the cassette was to fetch £600.

Martin has a net worth of £125 million, according to an article published in The Times in May 2021. Martin is also close pals with Jay-Z and Beyoncé, the musical pair.

Relationships:

According to one source, Martin had a relationship with live events producer Lily Sobhani around the time of the Parachutes album release.

He married American actress Gwyneth Paltrow in a private wedding with their friends and family on December 5, 2003.

In May of 2004, their daughter Apple was born in London. In preparation for her birth, Martin and the band had a song called “I am your baby’s daddy” under “the Nappies.” The lead track from Coldplay’s X&Y album, “Speed of Sound,” was by Martin’s experience and wondered about becoming a father.

Martin’s daughter is godfathered by Simon Pegg and his bandmate Jonny Buckland and Martin’s godfather Pegg’s daughter.

Moses, his second kid, was born in New York City in April 2006. The name was inspired by a song he penned for Paltrow with the same name. After eleven years of marriage, Martin and Paltrow said about their separation in March 2014 as a “conscious uncoupling.” Paltrow divorced in April 2015, and the divorce was finalized on July 14, 2016. He had an on-again, off-again romance with actress Annabelle Wallis from August 2015 to August 2017. Since October 2017, Martin has dated actress Dakota Johnson.

Martin is currently single and has been dating Dakota Johnson, a Fifty Shades actress, since October 2017.

Career:

Coldplay (formerly known as Pectoralz, then Starfish) was in 1996 by Martin, Buckland, Champion, and Berryman. In 2000, they published their first album, “Parachutes,” which included the single “Yellow,” which charted at #4 in the United Kingdom. Between 2002 and 2019, the band released seven more albums, including “A Rush of Blood to the Head” and “Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.” Chris also pursued a solo career, collaborating with Jay-Z, Nelly Furtado, and Kanye West.

Martin has won numerous prizes with Coldplay, including seven Grammys, seven Billboard Music Awards, nine Brit Awards, six MTV Video Music Awards, and three World Music Awards. “Viva La Vida,” “Fix You,” “The Scientist,” and “Clocks” are among the band’s hits. Coldplay played at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show in 2016, with special guests Beyoncé and Bruno Mars, and was placed #13 on “Rolling Stone” magazine’s list of the best Super Bowl halftime shows in 2020.

Martin has appeared in several films and television shows, including “Brüno,” “Shaun of the Dead,” “Extras,” “Modern Family,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and “The Simpsons.”

He’s also performed on “Saturday Night Live” seven times: with Coldplay in 2001, 2005, 2008, 2011, 2014, and 2019, and as a solo artist on the show’s debut “Saturday Night Live at Home” episode in 2020. Martin also starred in “Coldplay Live 2012,” a documentary about the band’s history, and “Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams,” a documentary about the band’s history, both released in 2012. Both films had a single-day theatrical release before being on DVD, premium cable, or streaming services.

Royalties for Coldplay:

Despite being the band’s lead songwriter, Chris has decided to distribute all copyright credits among his bandmates fairly. This action has effectively rewarded his band members tens of millions of dollars in royalties they would not have received otherwise.

Chris married Gwyneth Paltrow, an actress, on December 5, 2003. Apple was born in May 2004, and Moses was born in April 2006. Paltrow met Martin at a Coldplay concert shortly after her father, Bruce, died in 2002, and Chris offered her support. The event inspired Chris to create the song “Fix You” for Gwyneth, as well as “Swallowed in the Sea” and “Moses.” Paltrow and Martin said their “deliberately uncoupling” after ten years of marriage in March 2014, and their divorce was in July 2016. Martin dated actress Jennifer Lawrence from 2014 to 2015. Then in October 2017, he started dating Dakota Johnson. Chris became the World’s Sexiest Vegetarian by PETA in 2005, but after his divorce from Paltrow, he gave up his vegetarian lifestyle. Martin has attempted sleep therapy for sleeplessness and claims to have nightmares about his band when he does get some sleep.

Martin and Paltrow purchased their Malibu home for $14 million in 2014. They also have houses in London, Brentwood, and the Hamptons and a $5.1 million Tribeca penthouse purchased in 2007.

In 2016, Chris sold his home in Mandeville Canyon for $12 million. In 2013, he paid $6.75 million for the 7,700 square foot home. Later, in 2018, he paid $4.45 million for a 6.5-acre property (the 99-seat Malibu Playhouse) and $3.7 million for a 3000 square foot Malibu Park ranch house. In 2019, Martin also paid $5.48 million for a beach property in Malibu.
