Read to know all about the  second season of “Reservation Dogs”

For a good reason, Taika Waititi’s name frequently appears in headlines about the entertainment industry. He is currently one of the most well-known directors, having produced several blockbuster films. One of his most recent projects is “Reservation Dogs,” a comedy television series on FX that he co-created with Sterlin Harjo and was just given a second season.

The movie “Reservation Dogs” is about four Native American teens who call themselves the Rez Dogs and live on a reservation in rural Oklahoma. Their names are Elora Danan Postoak (Devery Jacobs), Bear Smallhill (D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai), Cheese (Lane Factor), and Willie Jack (Paulina Alexis). To gather money for a cross-country move to get out of their current living circumstances, the Rez Dogs do whatever they consider necessary, and they get into a good amount of trouble in the process.

Reservation Dogs Season 2 Release date

A second season of “Reservation Dogs” was ordered in early September; it will air sometime in 2022. Taika Waititi tweeted about the new show for the first time in 2019; the first season of the show will air in August 2021. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait nearly as long for Season 2, but there is still some time before its debut. It might be released as early as next summer.

The president of original programming at FX, Nick Grad, provided the following statement to TVLine upon reporting on the show’s season renewal: “We couldn’t wait to share Reservation Dogs with viewers and are thrilled that they seem to love it as much as we do. We’re happy to put in an early order for another season. Sterlin Harjo delivered his creative vision, partnering with Taika Waititi and the rest of the creative team, the brilliant cast and crew to create one of TV’s best new comedies and a groundbreaking showcase of representation and raw talent.”

The cast of Reservation Dogs Season 2

The four series protagonists, Elora, Bear, Cheese, and Willie Jack, are anticipated to return in Season 2. However, the cast hasn’t been officially announced. Other series regulars, including William “Spirit” Knifeman, Mose (Lil Mike), Mekko (Funny Bone), Bear’s mother Rita (Sarah Podemski). And Officer Big (Zahn McClarnon), is also going to appear (Dallas Goldtooth). Stay tuned for formal casting updates so we can meet some new characters.

“Reservation Dogs” is breaking records in the entertainment industry for being the first TV series. It is to feature a predominantly Indigenous team of writers, directors, producers, and a primarily Indigenous cast (per Salon). Harjo also revealed how they went about the actual casting process. It is to find cast members who could genuinely represent folks from Indigenous-American backgrounds. “You must go to these communities to find the actors,” he explained to Salon. “That’s all [‘Reservation Dogs’] did. We went and cast in the communities, and we went and got tapes from all over Indigenous communities. The talent is there, and it just doesn’t happen to be on Hollywood Boulevard.”

Recap

After Season 1 of “Reservation Dogs,” Elora, Bear, Cheese, and Willie Jack are facing a decision. The other group members debate their intentions after Willie. Jack admits she does not want to go to California, Elora, and Bear. The leader of their group’s rival gang, Jackie (Elva Guerra), eventually persuades Elora to leave. It is resulting in a more significant divide between the Rez Dogs in Season 2.

The plot of Reservation Dogs Season 2

Punkin Lusty (Sten Jodi), Bear’s estranged father, may also make an appearance at some point. Woon-A-Tai discussed his thoughts on his character maybe hearing from his father in the upcoming season in an interview with TVLine”I think we will. Do I think Punkin is gonna come to Oklahoma? No, I don’t think so. If (and it’s a big “if”) the Reservation Dogs go to California, I don’t even know if Bear will want to go see his dad at that point. […] Will Punkin redeem himself in later episodes? I can see that. I don’t know what the writers are going to do with it!” It is uncertain whether Joddi will rejoin the endeavor, though. The plot of “Reservation Dogs” Season 2 is unknown. Well, but we anticipate it to be with lots of jokes and heartwarming scenes, just like Season 1.
