Release date and returning cast information for Outlander season 7

This year’s premiere of Outlander season 6 marked the conclusion of the show’s two-year hiatus (or “Droughtlander,” as fans affectionately dubbed it). The main characters of the Starz historical drama based on the ongoing Diana Gabaldon novel series were in severe peril the last time: Claire (Caitriona Balfe) is imprisoned after being falsely convicted of using witchcraft to murder Malva Christie (Jessica Reynolds). As Jamie (Sam Heughan) searched for her, viewers pondered whether she would face the death penalty for the murder. Now that season 6 of Outlander is over, viewers are eagerly awaiting the upcoming “mega-sized” season, especially in light of the valuable information revealed by season 7 filming sneak peeks. Read on to find out everything we know about the release date, spoilers, cast, shooting locations, and more for Outlander season 7. For the Sassenach and the Highlander, there is still so much to be revealed.

Outlander season 7 Release date

Although it’s too soon to start counting down, Deadline reports that the premiere of Outlander season 7 might happen as early as “late 2022/early 2023.” However, Outlander season 7’s launch date was unknown to executive producer Maril Davis, who said as much in May.

The cast of Outlander season 7

As Jamie and Claire’s story develops throughout the Revolutionary War and they interact with historical people like Benedict Arnold and Benjamin Franklin, we’re to get to know many brand-new cast members. The main cast will reprise their roles, but the lineup has yet to be officially revealed.

Outlander season 7 -1
  • As Claire, Caitriona Balfe
  • Also, as Jamie, Sam Heughan
  • As Brianna, Sophie Skelton
  • Roger, played by Richard Rankin
  • John Bell as a Child, Ian
  • Mark Tom Christie in Lewis Jones

With the addition of Joey Phillips, the forthcoming season will see the introduction of Dr. Denzell Hunter and Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter, a brother and sister pair. The two appeared in full colonial attire in a recent film uploaded to Outlander’s YouTube channel in August.

The plot of Outlander season 7

Fortunately, Matthew B. Roberts, Outlander’s creator, writer, and executive producer, won’t let you suffer through the wait. Season 7 will follow its source material, An Echo in the Bone, even though there is still some unfinished business from season 6’s book, A Breath of Snow and Ashes. Readers of the series know that Jamie and Claire must draw lines in the sand to maintain their dual citizenship in Scotland and America.

Meanwhile, William Buccleigh MacKenzie (Graham McTavish), their visitor from the past, visits their daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and her husband Roger (Richard Rankin) as they return to the twentieth century in Lallybroch, per Vulture. They had in mind that Roger’s ancestor attempted to be hanged and that he was the secret son of Dougal MacKenzie and Geillis Duncan, phew. Future Fraser family members will be in far greater danger.

Outlander season 7 -2

The Revolutionary War, sometimes referred to as the American War of Independence, will be shown in season seven as becoming closer to Fraser’s Ridge than it did in season six, which ended with a hint at the country’s worsening unrest as Claire arrived in Wilmington. The sixth book by Diana Gabaldon, An Echo in the Bone, takes place between 1776 and 1778; the Declaration of Independence was on July 4, 1776, and the war lasted until 1783.

Fans of the books will be aware that the Fraser family is involved in the battle and that Jamie will ultimately face off against William. The latter is Jamie’s biological son and his friend Lord John. There will also be a new family member because Brianna announced in season six that she was expecting her second child. This would necessitate Brianna and Roger to decide where (and when?) to start a family, which would be a significant decision.

Trailer

Although the Outlander season 7 teaser has not yet been out public, STARZ posted a YouTube behind-the-scenes look at the series’ filming last month. The performers used World Outlander Day to thank and celebrate the audience. We are here working hard for you on what I believe to be my favorite season yet, Sophie Skelton remarked. Richard Rankin said, “I completely agree.”
