After some news reports claiming that India’s one of the richest man Mukesh Ambani and his family have plans to relocate to London, finally Reliance industries Ltd clarified that Mukesh Ambani and his family have no such plans to relocate. A report said that they will have a second home in the UK and will divide their time between London and their current Mumbai residence, and this report was denied by Reliance industries Ltd itself. Reliance said that the report led to “unwarranted and baseless speculation.”
The newspaper report said that it was the first time the Ambani’s did not celebrate Diwali in Mumbai and it has also come to know that the UK estate included a mandir in it, and to build a Rajasthan sculptor in the mansion. It also mentions that it has a state-of-the-art medical facility which has been set up with doctors. But the news was denied by Reliance industries.
The news agency Mid-Day reported on Thursday, that Mukesh Ambani along with his family was set to make the 300 acres Stoke Park country club, located in Buckinghamshire, as their second home. In a release late on Friday, the company said, “A recent report in a newspaper has led to unwarranted and baseless speculation in social media regarding the Ambani family’s plan to partly reside in Stoke Park, London. Reliance industries Ltd would like to clarify that the chairman and his family have no plans whatsoever to relocate or reside in London or anywhere else in the world.”
Reliance industries Ltd bought Stoke Park for 57 million pounds in April this year. Stoke Park, the private sporting and leisure estate, was used as a private residence till 1908. Reliance informed that this acquisition was a part of its strategy for the fast growing consumer business. Reliance industrial investments and holdings Ltd has acquired the Heritage properties so that they can revamp it into a premier golfing and sporting resort. It added that the transaction was carried out while complying with the planning guidance and also the local regulations.
Regarding this the company said, “RIL group company, RIIHL,( Reliance Industrial Investments and Holdings Ltd), which acquired Stoke Park estate recently, would like to clarify that its acquisition of the heritage property is aimed at enhancing this as a premier golfing and sporting resort, while fully complying with the planning guidelines and local regulations. This acquisition will add to the fast growing consumer business of the groups. Simultaneously it will also expand the footprint of India’s hospitality industry globally.”
Before Reliance acquired the London property for Rs 592 crore, Ambani and his family used to visit abroad, because of which, the visit has been linked to them making Stoke Park their second home. Currently, they live in a 400,000 square feet Altamount road residence, “Antilia”, which is located in South Mumbai. Antilia is one of the most expensive residential properties in the world.
The Stoke Park has the luxury spa, hotel, golf course and country club is frequented by the British elite as well as movie stars, sports personalities and royalty, and it has been known as a popular location for the film shoots also.
Many businessmen of India which includes Sunil Mittal, The Hindujas and Anil Agarwal use the UK and especially London as their base. According to some reports, Mukesh Ambani and family spent the summer of 2020 at Heckfield Place in Hampshire with family and their close friends.
But Reliance industries Ltd did not comment on Ambani’s frequent visits overseas.
