On Monday , Amazon Prime Video announced that it would begin exclusively broadcasting cricket matches. The OTT platform has announced a collaboration with the New Zealand Cricket Association, which will begin livestreaming matches in January 2022. Amazon became the first streaming service in India to secure exclusive match-streaming rights from a major cricketing governing body in November 2020. The tours of New Zealand by India’s Men’s and Women’s cricket teams will be broadcast live in India next year.
Amazon said in a press release that starting January 1, 2022, it would stream live cricket matches on its Prime Video platform. The matches will be displayed on a carousel for Live Cricket, or viewers can use the search bar to look for “New Zealand Cricket.” The matches can be viewed on the internet, mobile app, smart TVs, set-top boxes, Fire TV sticks, and other devices that are compatible.
The video streaming network signed a multiyear deal with New Zealand Cricket in November 2020 to stream international men’s and women’s cricket matches played in the country.
The test series between New Zealand and Bangladesh will be the first match to be webcast. On January 1, 2022, the match will begin. On each day of the tournament, Indian spectators can watch the game starting at 3:30 a.m. IST. Prime Video will also broadcast a number of cricketing programmes, as well as highlights from prior matches and highlights from recently ended matches.
In February 2022, viewers will be able to watch South Africa’s tour of New Zealand, as well as Australia’s visit of New Zealand in March 2022 and the Netherlands’ tour in March/April 2022. In addition, Amazon Prime Video will broadcast India’s Women’s cricket team’s tour of New Zealand in February 2022 and the Men’s cricket team’s tour in November 2022.
