The 12 members Indian contingent leaves for Tokyo Olympics 2020! Know about the members

Veteran Devendra Jhajharia and the famous world champion Sandeep Chaudhary along with the other 5 javelin throwers in a very strong Indian contingent leaves for the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 games. The games will be conducted in Tokyo and the competition will start on Wednesday. The contingent also includes two high jumpers, Nishad Kumar and Ram Pal, and also a discus thrower – Yogesh Kathuniya. One of the top medal prospects, veteran Devendra Jhajharia is all set to compete in the Paralympics. He had before won the gold medal in Athens and also in the Rio Paralympics which gained him much fame and his talent got noticed worldwide.

The 49-year-old javelin throw is also having a world record by overcoming the already set record of 63.97 m when he sent the square to a distance of 65.7 m in a qualifying event which was conducted back in June.  His competition actually comes from compatriots Ajit Singh and Sundar Gurjar and also if everything goes well India will be able to grab all the three medals in the men’s f- 46 categories.

The categories are dedicated to athletes who have arm deficiency or are impaired due to muscle power or impaired passive range of movement in arms while they will be competing in a standing position. Indeed the javelin throwers have now come into LimeLight after Neeraj Chopra’s amazing performance in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. When Devendra Jhajharia spoke about it, he said “Neeraj gold medal has put the spotlight on javelin throwers and being the senior-most of the lot, I can say this with the assurance that after the Paralympics javelin (throw) will be the second most popular game in the country after cricket.”

Also, there are many eyes watching Chaudhary and Sumit Antil in the men’s f- 64 categories. Board members are ranked world number 1 and 2 respectively in this category and also the categories especially for the athletes with a leg amputation. They all will be competing with prosthetics and standing positions. There is a lot of hope of getting the prestigious medal from the Tokyo Paralympics this year by the Indian contingent showing their skills. The games are all set to start from August 27 for the above-mentioned events respectively.

Each one of the twelve members of the Indian contingent has worked really hard for the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 and the entire country will be looking forward to the performance in all upcoming events. Hopefully, our country will be getting a gold medal just like we got in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 which was conducted earlier this month.
