The cast of The Good Nurse
Two Academy Award winners who won their awards for playing real-life characters are in the lead role. Jessica Chastain, who plays Amy Loughren in The Eyes of Tammy Faye, won her first Oscar for the role of televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker. In The Theory of Everything, Eddie Redmayne, who plays Charles Cullen, earned his first Oscar for playing Stephen Hawking.
According to Vanity Fair, Chastain stated that she decided to stick to the facts when writing The Good Nurse because she is not a big fan of exciting true crime. The sensationalization of violence and hostility is seen in many true-crime shows and films, which I believe to be a bit nasty. According to Chastain, she wished to identify someone similar to Amy.
Chastain and Redmayne practised nursing and viewed videos of their real-life counterparts to prepare for their roles. At the start and end of the trailer, Loughren runs across her fellow serial killer friend Cullen in a cafe. She looks composed and kind while pressuring him to confess to the killings. I don’t want to talk about work, the undercover Cullen responds. Is it because what they’re saying is true, Loughren queries? The conversation is excruciating because of how bad the issue seems to be in the teaser. Loughren and Cullen are so close that he freely visits Loughren’s home and her young daughters. Cullen is Loughren’s compassionate and supportive friend. Loughren is a single mother who can hardly afford to pay her babysitter. When the hospital administrator introduces her to detectives Tim Braun (Noah Emmerich) and Danny Baldwin, her already complicated life becomes terrifying (Nnamdi Asomugha).
They inform her of Cullen’s participation in a patient’s suspicious death. Loughren quickly realises he is poisoning the saline containers with lethal insulin doses. From that point on, Loughren plays the role of the stressed-out cat in a game of cat and mouse with the exceedingly intelligent and silent mouse. He has allegedly been killing individuals without ever touching them, according to Detective Baldwin. His new employment will begin, and business will continue as usual. It becomes apparent that Loughren is the only one who can help authorities catch Cullen because the hospital won’t provide them with the evidence they need.
