Teachers’ day is almost here and this day is celebrated every year to honour and recognise the efforts of educators. A day that is meant for teachers is also a day that we celebrate because of the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Dr. Radhakrishnan is the first vice president of India and also the second President of India and he was a teacher. Along with being a teacher Dr. Radhakrishnan was scholar and a philosopher par excellence and was awarded Bharat Ratna. He got the country’s highest civilian honour and the space birth anniversary celebrated every year on September 5 as teachers day.
Teachers’ Day is celebrated on the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan as he is known one of the most esteemed education educators. Well, his students asked him out of reverence if he would allow them to celebrate his birthday and at that time Doctor Radhakrishnan denied any special treatment. However, he said to his students that they could celebrate the day as the teacher’s day to recognise the contribution of all the educated around them in society. That’s why on his birthday we celebrate teacher’s Day and it was the beginning of the history of teachers’ day. This day is celebrated to honour and shows gratitude to all our teachers across India and schools and even higher educational institutions have been celebrating this day to pay tribute to Dr Radhakrishnan.
Dr. Radhakrishnan was the one who showed the importance of having teachers in your life as he emphasized how teachers mold students’ future and also how they make use of education in their life. After our got freedom from British rule Doctor Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was the one who brought the fact of Indian education importance to highlight. Many students show their appreciation and gratitude towards the teacher by giving them small gifts and even cards to show how lucky they are to have them.
Due to the outbreak of the pandemic in many places in India the schools are closed and the students cannot celebrate teachers’ day with their teachers in educational institutions. However, there is always a solution to the problem and this Teachers day many institutions have been planning to conduct virtual events to celebrate the day and to help the students interact with teachers and they show their gratitude in the virtual mode. The teachers are people who guide us throughout our student life and they are the ones who show us to walk on the right path.
