The Resident Evil: Release date as per Netflix, cast details and plot line!

At the moment, fans of the zombie franchise Resident Evil are having a blast. Not only has Resident Evil: Village, the eighth major instalment in the gaming series, been a big success, but there’s also a new movie revival, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, and two new TV shows in the works.

In addition to the anime series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, a live-action adaptation is in the works. Here’s what we know about the latter, which is presently known only as Resident Evil.

Resident Evil

Well, Capcom’s legendary post-apocalyptic video game series, is coming to Netflix with a brand-new storyline.

According to Netflix, the live-action Resident Evil series is in active development, announced on August 27, 2020. Andrew Dabb, the co-showrunner and executive producer of CBS’ successful TV series Supernatural, is the show’s creator.

Dabb went on to say in an official statement promoting the show:

“Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time. I’m incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first-ever Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world. For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before.”

If the news of this show’s development seems familiar, it’s because it was first reported on by Deadline in January 2019. This is, however, the first formal indication that the video game will be converted into a television series. Of course, everyone is wondering what the storyline for this programme will be like; will it be similar to the video game, or will it be completely different? What can we expect from this future Netflix series, as well? Let’s get right to work.

The Plot of Resident Evil

The computer game that will be converted into a TV series will follow the experiences of the two Wesker children over two time periods. In an official release, Netflix announced the following plot arcs:

“In the first timeline, fourteen-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world.Cut to the second timeline, well over a decade into the future: there are less than fifteen million people left on Earth. And more than six billion monsters — people and animals infected with the T-virus. Jade, now thirty, struggles to survive in this New World, while the secrets from her past – about her sister, her father and herself – continue to haunt her.”

Will Resident Evil: Apocalypse On Netflix Work Better Than The Movies?

Their father and the Resident Evil video games’ recurrent villain, Albert Wesker, has been a part of their universe since the first game. Though we have no idea what will happen to Billie along the road, we are optimistic that it will involve teeth and mutation.

Netflix’s Resident Evil: Confirmed Cast

Though the series was only recently confirmed, fans have known a lot about it since June 2021, including the key characters. The Twitter account Netflix Geeked announced that six actors had been cast for the show. Lance Reddick, Ella Balinska of Charlie’s Angels, and Siena Agudong from F9: The Fast Saga, Tamara Smart (Are You Afraid of the Dark and Artemis Fowl), Paola Nuez (Bad Boyz for Life and The Purge TV series), and Adeline Rudolph (Chiller Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale) are among the actresses who have appeared on the show.

According to Variety, Lance Reddick will play Albert Wesker, the antagonist who made his debut appearance in the video game in 1996. This character has also appeared in several Resident Evil cinematic ventures. We last saw Tom Hopper in the role of Wesker in Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, which was released in 2021. Reddick has starred in several well-known films and television shows, including Charon in the John Wick franchise and Cedric Daniels on HBO’s The Wire.

Smart, Balinska, Agudong, Nuez, and Rudolph have yet to be revealed as characters. Tetiana Gaidar, who is identified as a Tactical Weapons Trainer on the series’ IMDb page, is also featured. Evan Hengst plays Carl, and Rizelle Januk plays Billie Wesker’s teacher. According to Variety, Ahad Raza Mir will also join the cast, and his exact role has yet to be out.

Release Date for Resident Evil

According to Netflix, the Resident Evil series will premiere on Netflix on July 14, 2022. If the Netflix binge approach is going to happen, all episodes should be out on this day.

Netflix first announced the Resident Evil show in the summer of 2020, but due to delays created by Covid, filming did not commence until considerably later than expected. According to What’s On Netflix, the show will premiere in February 2021.

According to Netflix Geeked, the Resident Evil series will premiere on July 14, 2022. Netflix revealed in 2020 that the show would include eight episodes, each lasting an hour. It follows the same format as most TV shows available on streaming providers in recent years. What’s unclear is whether Netflix will release all eight episodes of Resident Evil in one sitting or every week.

Some streaming companies, notably Disney+ and Prime. It have begun releasing popular episodes every week, so Netflix is likely to follow suit. However, we won’t know for sure until July 14.

Trailer

The new Resident Evil series has multiple brief trailers available. The first official teaser begins in modern-day New Racoon City. It is before cutting to London in 2036, where the situation appears to be far more horrific.
