In the 2011 NBA draught, Holiday went undrafted. So, he committed to the Belgian team Okapi Aalstar on August 4, 2011, for the 2011–12 campaign. He started for the Belgian team alongside Chris Copeland, another future NBA player.  So, on October 31, 2012, the Idaho Stampede bought Holiday. Also, he made his Idaho debut on November 28 in a 112-98 loss to the Los Angeles D-Fenders, scoring 15 points and six rebounds. 

Holiday joined the Philadelphia 76ers in July 2013 in preparation for the NBA Summer League. So, on August 14, 2013, the 76ers released him. September 30, 2013, saw the date of his Utah Jazz contract. Though he played in seven preseason games, the Jazz later released him on October 26, 2013. 

Holiday teamed up with the Golden State Warriors in July 2014 in preparation for the NBA Summer League. So, he joined the Warriors on September 8, 2014. Also, he was allocated to the Santa Cruz Warriors on November 14, 2014. The next day, he was called back. He scored 23 points on March 13, 2015, against the Denver Nuggets, but the team lost. So, after the Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2015 NBA Finals in six games, Holiday and the Warriors won the championship. Also, he played in 59 games for Golden State in 2014–15, scoring 4.3 points and pulling down 1.2 rebounds.

The Chicago Bulls acquired the Holiday on February 18, 2016, as part of a three-team transaction that included the Utah Jazz and Hawks.

In place of an ailing Derrick Rose on March 11, 2016, he got his sixth career start for the Bulls. He played 38 minutes in a 118-96 loss to the Miami Heat, compiling a then-season-high 14 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. So, on April 13, in the Bulls’ 115-105 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, Holiday scored a career-high 29 points. 

The Memphis Grizzlies acquired the Holiday on January 3, 2019, along with MarShon Brooks, Wayne Selden Jr., and two second-round draught picks. He scored 30 points on April 7, 2019, in a 129-127 overtime defeat against the Dallas Mavericks. 

So, the Holiday was dealt to the Sacramento Kings on February 8, 2022, along with Domantas Sabonis, Jeremy Lamb. Also, a 2023 second-round selection in exchange for Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield, and Tristan Thompson.

Holiday and Maurice Harkless were exchanged for Kevin Huerter by the Atlanta Hawks on July 6, 2022.
