On Tuesday, Donald Trump announced that he will conduct a press conference in Florida on January 6, the anniversary of his supporters’ violent invasion of Congress.
The 75-year-old former president said he’d talk about the November 2020 election, and he repeated his bogus claim that he beat Joe Biden.
Trump also slammed the congressional committee investigating the January 6 assault on the US Capitol in a statement sent by a spokesman.
Instead, he claims, a House of Representatives committee of “very partisan political hackers” should look into the “rigged Presidential Election of 2020.”
“On January 6th, I will hold a press conference at Mar-a-Lago to cover all of these issues and more,” Trump added.
“Until then, keep in mind that the insurrection began on November 3rd, and it was a wholly unarmed protest of the stolen election on January 6th,” he stated.
Trump, who was defeated by Biden by more than seven million votes in the 2020 election, has intimated in recent months that he would run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
Following the January 6 attack on the Capitol, Trump was impeached by the Democratic majority House but acquitted by the Republican-controlled Senate.
