Former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid is very well known for his skills and talent. The player has a huge fan following and the talk of him to soon replace Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the Indian team is all around. It will happen after the T20 World Cup. He will stay in the post till the end of 2023. Also some state that under him, India will go further to play the 2023 edition of the 50-over World Cup. Well, Virat Kohli has given his first reactions after Dravid was appointed for this amazing role in the Indian cricket team.
India captain Virat Kohli, will be leading the side in his final assignment. He will be playing as a T20I skipper at the T20 World Cup. When Virat Kohli was questioned regarding the rumors of Dravid joining the team as Head coach, he answered it by saying, “Look, I mean our goal is to win the World Cup. I have no idea regarding what is happening on the coach front, we have not had any detailed discussions with anyone. But winning the T20 World Cup is our goal like any other team. But I think what we have been able to create over the last 5-6 years is beyond titles and beyond tournaments,” said Kohli when Captain’s Call was organized by ICC ahead of the ultimate T20 showdown.
Virat Kohli further added, “We have created a culture which I think will last for a long time where people want to be the best they can be when they enter the team, the fittest they can be. That culture we have driven with utmost passion and honesty which we hope will continue to be the case in the years to come. Winning an ICC title will definitely be a wonderful moment for all of us, it will be an amazing achievement. We are motivated to do so, we will give it our everything.”
Dravid’s first assignment after becoming the Team India coach will be India’s home series which they will play against New Zealand. The match will start three days after the T20 World Cup ends. Also, as per a few reports, his contract will run till the end of the 50-over World Cup that is in 2023. His contract is reportedly worth Rs 10 crores.
