Chinese City Is Reporting 1 Million Covid Cases Every Day

The provincial government of China's Zhejiang, a large industrial province near Shanghai

reported on Sunday that the province is fighting around a million new COVID-19 infections every day

with that number expected to double in the coming days.

The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Sunday that despite a record surge of cases across the country

there were no COVID deaths on the mainland in the five days leading up to Saturday.

After Beijing made sweeping changes to a zero-COVID policy that had put hundreds of millions of its citizens under relentless lockdowns

battered the world's second-largest economy, citizens and experts called for more accurate data as infections surged.
