Cricketer Rishabh Pant Airlifted To Mumbai, Set To Undergo Surgery

The BCCI announced on Wednesday that star India batsman Rishabh Pant

"undergo surgery for ligament tears," effectively ending his cricket career for the foreseeable future.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a press release that Pant was airlifted from a hospital in Dehradun to Mumbai

he could receive extensive treatment for ligament injuries to his knee and ankle sustained in a car accident on December 30.

Given Pant's inability to travel via commercial airline, the BCCI has opted to transfer him to Mumbai via air ambulance.

Sports orthopaedic surgeon Dinshaw Pardiwala will be caring for Pant, as was previously reported by PTI.

Shah said that he would be admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute
