The movie Wonka, which will centre on a young Willy Wonka before the events of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, is eagerly awaited. Paul King will direct the movie, and he and Simon Farnaby will also write the script.
Since Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Willy Wonka in the 2005 movie, this will be the first time we’ve seen him on screen. Gene Wilder played the part before that, in 1971. Yet in the future movie, we’ll see Wonka before he became the owner of the chocolate factory since both of these depicted him at that point.
Release Date of Wonka
The release date of Wonka, which was originally scheduled for March 17, 2023, has been postponed until December 15, 2023. The new adaption won’t be on the big screen for a time, so fans will have to wait.
Plot
Although the entire narrative hasn’t been revealed yet, we do know it will be a prequel. Up to this point, the official summary has been: “A genesis story that examines the vivid, mythological beginnings of the creative young inventor before he becomes the famed scrumdiddlyumptious Mozart of chocolate.”

Star Cast
The lead character of Wonka has been cast for Call Me by Your Name actor Timothée Chalamet. He posted a glimpse of himself in the recognisable outfit with the top hat and vivid jacket in October of last year. In the second image, a tiny wrapped gift can be seen inside of what might be the fabled Willy Wonka cane. Although it’s difficult to tell, the suspense is killing us, much like Timothée, if his caption is any indication.
The musical portions in this movie, which were written by Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy, will be Timothée Chalamet’s first time singing and dancing. Timothée most recently played the lead in the Denis Villeneuve-directed film Dune.
Additional identities have been announced, however it’s unclear exactly what parts they will each be playing just yet. The names Keegan-Michael Key, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Olivia Colman, and Jim Carter are associated with Willy Wonka.
