Despite Netflix’s teen LGBT rom-com warming everyone’s hearts, the second season of Heartstopper Season 2 has yet to be confirmed. Everyone is eager to learn more about Nick and Charlie’s romance in Heartstopper Season 2. Of course, once we’ve all stopped giggling at how incredibly touching the entire thing is.
Critics praised Heartstopper for its positive outlook on sexuality discovery and how essential it is to finally see a love story like this on-screen that isn’t accompanied by a hefty dosage of trauma. However, as Nick and Charlie decide to go public, with Nick coming out to his loving mother just as season one ended, there’s a lot of potential for where this goes in season two.
Here’s all you need to know about the series’ upcoming episodes in Heartstopper Season 2.
Plot & Storyline for Heartstopper Season 2
Heartstopper Season 2 will most likely take up right where it left off when it returns (and we say when since we believe this story isn’t over).
Nick has finally told his mother about his sexual orientation and is ready to call Charlie his partner. It remains to be seen how the rest of the school reacts when uncovered.
Ben, who has developed a sense of ownership over Charlie despite his refusal to come out, is unlikely to be pleased with this development. It appears to be more intense than ever now that Charlie has moved on. Charlie revealed that he had been battling with his mental health since coming out, and Alice Osman told Digital Spy that this is something we might see more of in the future.
“If we do get future seasons, I’ll want to be bringing in the themes of mental health because that’s important in the books,” she said. “The challenge of writing Heartstopper is exploring those darker issues while keeping the tone so optimistic. Like, that has been the struggle of writing it for me the whole way through. “But I like to think that it’s possible. I feel like I have achieved it in the books. I’ve been very candid about mental health, and I explored that really while not writing something that’s intensely triggering or dark and horrible to read or watch. So that is very much my goal for the show.” Even Joe Locke said that filming this scene, in which Charlie tells his sister that he doesn’t feel worthy of love, was difficult.
“Our director, Euros [Lyn], I don’t know how he did it. He has this wonderful way of getting the right things out of us without pushing us to our extremes,” he said. “So we would talk about the scene, and we’d reach into the scene. I think Euros tried to make the set as comfortable and as at-ease as possible – especially in that scene, for me, while I was getting into the headspace.” One of Locke’s favorite moments from this coming-of-age drama. Was Charlie’s eventual “burst of emotions.” “It’s the turning point where he realizes that he needs to sort things out and do certain things to rectify things that have happened,” he told us. In addition, latent homophobia is raging through the school’s hallways, driven by the wealthy and entitled Harry.
Tao and Elle will also have to deal with their growing feelings for one another as they try to figure out if they want to be friends. The drama is only just getting to know about Heartstopper Season 2.
Recap of Heartstopper Season 1
Nick told Charlie he didn’t want to split up and confessed that Charlie had made his life better, not worse. Towards the end of Season 1, we finally saw Alone. Nick told Charlie he didn’t want to break up and confessed that Charlie had made his life better, not worse. Nick told Charlie that he was his favorite person and wanted to go out on a date with him. The two boarded a train on Sunday to make Charlie happy, with Nick keeping the destination — which turned out to be the beach — a surprise. Charlie was delighted as they hurried to the beach, and Nick showed his admiration for Charlie.
Nick gave more good news, revealing that he would come out to the people that mattered, including his mother, whom he told in a touching and inspiring flash forward. As Nick revealed that he was bisexual and Charlie was his partner, his mother hugged him and complimented him for being honest. Nick even attempted to explain what bisexual meant, to which his mother responded with a chuckle and the remark that she was older, not ancient. He laughed and said he believed it was apparent that they were boyfriends when Charlie questioned if they were formally boyfriends. Nick grabbed up Charlie, held him in his arms, and shouted to the birds and the water they were boyfriends.
The two kissed, cuddled on a beach towel, and grinned as they imagined a future when they could just be themselves and fall in love again.
