‘Uncharted,’ starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, is set to release in 2022. The film will be released in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu across India, directed by Ruben Fleischer and written by Rafe Judkins, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway, with a storey by Judkins.
The film began development in 2008, with film producer Avi Arad announcing that he would be working with Sony Pictures on a film version of Uncharted. However, the project went through a lengthy production process, with numerous directors, writers, and cast members attached at various times. Several directors were initially attached to the movie, including David O. Russell, Dan Trachtenberg, Neil Burger, Seth Gordon, Shawn Levy, and Travis Knight, with Nathan Fillion, Chris Pratt, and Mark Wahlberg reported to play Drake. Holland was cast in May 2017, and main photography began in March 2020 and ended in October of that year.
The film acts as a prequel to the computer games of the same name, following Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) on his first treasure hunting trip with his accomplice Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) as they set off in search of “the greatest treasure never uncovered.”
Uncharted introduces spectators to teenage street-smart Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) and his first treasure seeking journey with wisecracking partner Victor “Sully” Sullivan, based on one of the best-selling and critically acclaimed video game series of all time (Mark Wahlberg). The two embark on a perilous quest for “the greatest treasure never unearthed” while also chasing down clues that could lead to Nathan’s long-lost sibling in an action-adventure epic that spans the world.
Sony Pictures India recently made an announcement on social media about the film’s release, sharing the film’s poster and writing, “The search for the greatest treasure ever discovered begins in #UnchartedMovie, starring @TomHolland2013 and @MarkWahlberg, which opens in theatres exclusively on February 18th. The film will be released in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.”
The film, which began production in 2008, has experienced multiple setbacks on its way to completion. Finally, on February 11, it will be released in the United Kingdom, followed by a worldwide release on February 18.
