So, one of those authors changed Kreischer’s name to “Van Wilder” in the script after the transaction fell through and sold it to National Lampoon. He received a copy of the performance tape from his agent, Jason Steinberg, who urged him to check out stand-up comedy in New York City. So, Kreischer moved to New York City and accepted a job operating the door at the Boston Comedy Club in Greenwich Village. Will Smith’s production company contacted Kreischer shortly after firm with an offer to star in a comedy. Also, In 2001, Bert appeared in the pilot episode of “Life with David J.” and the short film “Prepare to Meet Thy God.” He guest-starred on “The Shield” in 2004, made an appearance on the DVD “National Lampoon Live: New Faces,” and had one of his pieces animated for Comedy Central’s “Shorties Watchin’ Shorties.”
