R Ashwin impresses India’s captain Rohit Sharma in the latest India vs Sri Lanka match!

One of the greatest off-spinners of all time is R Ashwin. He has once again won millions of hearts. He also left Rohit Sharma in awe after showing his amazing skills. Well, with every passing game he has been impressing more and more people and India’s Captain is really proud of him. Sharma also said that Rohit has dominantly won over Sri Lanka in the first test of the 2- match series. It was held in Mohali on Sunday. R Ashwin overtook one of the best all-rounders, Kapil Dev. He also became the second-highest wicket-taker in test cricket as per a report. Ashwin is also going past Kapil style with 434 wickets. He is next to Anil Kumble now who is top in India’s list having 619 wickets in hands. 

India vs Sri Lanka: What happened on 1st Test Day 3? 

After coming back to the side facing an injury lay-off Ashwin was able to hit a fifty. He got the injury in the limited-overs series. The match was against the West Indies and Sri Lanka. Ashwin also got 6 wickets in the first Test. Well, India thus went ahead winning by an innings and 222 runs. Currently, the cricketer is at the ninth spot on the all-time wicket-takers list. Well, he was able to get 436 wickets overall in a total of 84 matches. As per the reports, it is at a staggering average of 24.26. Compared to all the Test cricketers, he is the third-highest wicket-taker. 

He got this position just followed up by the England fast bowling duo Stuart Broad (537) and James Anderson (640). Rohit Sharma stated, “He is an all-time great in my eyes. He is playing for so many years and performed for the country. So many match-winning performances, so for me, he is an all-time great. People might have a different point of view but from where I see, he is an all-time great for me”.

Rohit praising Ashwin for his ability:

Rohit is so happy with Ashwin for the landmark Test in which he was able to cause challenges for the Sri Lanka batters. The men in blue got 16 wickets on Day 3. Sri Lanka’s team was bundled out for 174 and 178. “When you grow up wanting to play Test cricket, you don’t dream about these things and so to surpass that is a big achievement on his behalf. You know, I have been watching Ashwin for a long time now and every time I watch him, he seems to get better and better.”

 He further adds, “Ashwin is one such player who always has confidence is in his ability in what he wants to achieve and for the team as well.” R Ashwin’s spin twin Jadeja also showed amazing skills in the Test match. He goes one step ahead by becoming the first Indian in 60 years. He also got to hit a 150-plus score (175 not out in the first innings). Jadeja reportedly was able to get a 5-wicket haul in a Test. Overall in the end he got 9 wickets as per the reports in the Mohali Test.
