The world’s largest Khadi national flag is now installed in Leh, located in Ladakh. It was installed today on the auspicious occation of Gandhi Jayanti. On this special day of Mahatma Gandhi’s 152nd birth anniversary, the flag was installed. The inauguration of this world’s largest Khafi national flag in Ladakh was done by Ladakh Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur.
After the installation, the inauguration took place on October 2nd morning. The tricolor flag is huge and it is 225-feet long. The huge flag is also 150-feet wide, and the overall weight of the flag is around 1,000 kg. This massive tri-color flag has been prepared by the 57 Engineer Regiment of the Indian Army. As per the information given by the national broadcaster Doordarshan, the details of the flag were known. All the details of the flag were provided as the entire inauguration ceremony was broadcasted.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also took it to his official social media account to share the video of the flag. On his official Twitter account he shared the video by saying, “It is a moment of great pride for the Flag of India that on Gandhi Ji’s Jayanti, the world’s largest Khadi Tiranga is unveiled in Leh, Ladakh. I salute this gesture which commemorates Bapu’s memory, promotes Indian artisans and also honours the nation. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat!”
Well, the beautiful huge flag has been made by Khadi and Village Industry Commission (KVIC). It was displayed by the army in Leh.
Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane, is currently on a two-day visit to Ladakh. He was also present along with many other army officials when the inauguration of the huge Khadi flag took place. In a video of the event which was shared by the news agency ANI, it is clearly seen that the Indian Air Force helicopters were all flying over the site where the inauguration took place.
It was for the event in Leh so that they can salute and honour the national flag made of Khadi. The Grand inauguration ceremony was successful to hit the headlines as the world’s largest flag made of khadi was inaugurated in the ceremony. The inauguration ceremony took place today on Gandhi Jayanti which is celebrated every year as it is the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi or Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
Mahatma Gandhi adopted a non-violent resistance and promoted it in order to fight against British rule and to get Indian Independence. Mahatma Gandhi was also at the forefront of the freedom struggle and thus his birth anniversary is recognised at a huge level within the nation. Several leaders and ministers shared the information about the largest Khadi Tiranga in Leh. BJP leader Harsh Sanghavi also shared the video on Twitter, with a caption, “World’s largest Khadi national flag installed in Leh town.”
